The cast is for the most part wasted on this sophomoric material.

While the jokes aren't always home runs, many of them are, and you have to give them credit for the subject matter.

Brothers manages to be fairly amusing, with Pounder showing off her range by shifting from the very serious business of The Shield to playing a sharp-tongued but nurturing matriarch in a house full of childish squabblers.

Brothers is yet another sitcom where you'll see all of the jokes coming, where you'll be able to exactly predict everything from the story points to the tone of certain scenes, where nothing actually makes you laugh.

It becomes abundantly clear the show has nothing to say and the writers are already spinning their wheels.

It's merely another average, laugh-track-addled sitcom.

Based on the caliber of the jokes tonight, we shouldn't be overly optimistic.

The best thing about Brothers is the mother who gives this amiable but lightweight family comedy a little heft, CCH Pounder.

There is much to like; the family dynamic is both spiky and affectionate, without being absurdly dysfunctional or overly sentimental.

You've got to love sibling rivalry jokes to tolerate Brothers. I mean, really, really love them. Because this new Fox sitcom is a dripping faucet of sibling rivalry jokes.

It's just bad.

September 24, 2009 Full Review Source: HitFix

Brothers is not a good show, and it's a shame, because the sum of its parts should add up to a lot more than the whole that will hit your TV screens on Friday.

September 24, 2009 Full Review Source:

The fact that the writers stooped to mining the various disabilities of its cast for humor just screams scraping the bottom of the barrel for laughs.
