Sunny is playing to its strengths: using pop culture conventions to provide a jumping-off point for meta-riffs on their implausibility.
At least as funny as Danny DeVito's Twitter account. And with nearly as much naked Danny DeVito.
Is it a truly great show? I wouldn't go that far, but it's funny and unexpected and original, and that's much, much more than you can say for 95 percent of the comedies currently on the air.
At some point, the gang on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" will no longer be able to top itself, no longer do or say things that are even more wrong than the last thing they said or did. It hasn't happened yet.
Audience Reviews for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 4
The antics down at Paddy's Pub just get funnier and funnier in Season 4 of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. This season Frank buys a billboard, Mac and Charlie fake their deaths, Dee has a heart attack, and together they all put on a musical. The characters are let loose a little more and become more cartoonish, but this transition to outright cornballness works. There's some really brilliant writing this season, which leads to some incredible comedy bits. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia delivers a dynamite fourth season that's fun from start to finish.More
