Orange is the New Black: Season 3 (2015)
Critic Consensus: Thanks to its blend of potent comedy and rich character work, Orange is the New Black remains a bittersweet pleasure in its third season.
Series 3 begins with Caputo's (Nick Sandow) new regime in place which appears to be kinder and gentler than the women are used to and some of the staff begin to become disillusioned. Later; a bed bug infestation causes tempers to flare, Norma (Annie Golden) gains new followers, Daya (Dascha Polanco) goes into labour and much more.

The series' assiduous attention to the particulars of each inmate's life, whether delving into her past or her present, has made it one of the most brilliantly kaleidoscopic in the history of television.
Among the inmates, Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett (Taryn Manning) emerges in full as more than a one-note crazy hick.
...I did enjoy how the episode centers around a particular theme and highlights several different characters and reveals their personal experiences.
The first few episodes of Orange is The New Black's third season are so funny, so light-hearted, so warm and cozy, that it's briefly possible to forget that everything takes place in a federal penitentiary. But only briefly.
This season may feel like it has less forward momentum than last year's helter-skelter building of a villainess, but each episode moves at a brisk clip, giving us the backstory of a different character each time, and propelling various thematic strands.
Audience Reviews for Orange is the New Black: Season 3
Season 3 of OITNB is slightly disappointing by introducing Ruby Rose as a love interest for Piper. This season focuses on faith as a new cult formed within the prison and food crisis leading people to want to become Jewish. There was no villain this season which was disappointing and the little sub-plots were too fragmented to make it engaging. Fans would still enjoy it, others not so much.
Back to its lighter roots, less dark but much more aimless, OITNB is... okish this season. The humor is still spot-on, some characters are delightful to witness but just nothing much happens during this whole season. Seriously, what happened if not just time going by and some underwhelming storylines? Still, it's so well written and entertaining you'll almost forget about all this but I like my shows to have a sense of direction and goal. And that seemed the case with the first two seasons, but now? I dunno, feels like they're milking it a bit but I'll definitely come back next season for me. Here's to hoping they improve the quality a bit next time.
