I wouldn't call this a "snap," but it does indicate they have some things to work out.

If Mitch and his relationship with his wife and associates were compelling, we might forgive the plot holes and logic lapses that riddled "The Firm."

"The Firm" is not so much a two-hour pilot as a prison sentence. It's tedium, all gummed up by implausible plot twists, diabolically dopey dialogue, and other assorted bits of hooey.

The Firm at this point doesn't offer much on its own.

January 8, 2012 Full Review Source: HitFix

The Firm's straightforward, one-man-against-the-system story still feels compelling - especially when that one man happens to look like a Tom Ford model and yet comes off as totally relatable.

It may be ironic to call a legal thriller created by the man who all but invented the legal thriller derivative, but in this case, it feels very much like the truth.

Television never has enough law series to satiate the public, so maybe with 22 guaranteed episodes, people might take a chance on reinvigorated nostalgia.

There's something almost old-fashioned about NBC's new John Grisham series "The Firm," but for once, that isn't a bad thing.

A show that opens with that kind of casual, incompetent stupidity is telling you how little effort it plans to expend on telling its story, and how little respect it has for your intelligence.

January 8, 2012 Full Review Source:

The series is a pretty good metaphor for the original law firm: outwardly slick and polished, but with a hollow core.

January 8, 2012 Full Review Source: Variety

If "The Firm" were starting as an original story about Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas, in his first TV work in more than a decade) coming out of witness protection after making a bad mistake earlier in his life, it might work better than it does. But it's not.

So, while not anything wildly new on the story front, The Firm did succeed in its endeavors to provide a compelling and fast-paced plot that introduced characters you want to watch.
