The suddenly ambitious Homer begins taking his job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant seriously for a change, and presents less-than-scrupulous owner C. Montgomery Burns (voice of Harry Shearer) with a long list of safety violations. Homer soon learns Burns has an unusual way of protecting himself from legal actions for his wildly unsafe plant -- the ownership is actually in the name of his pet canary, making it impossible to prosecute him. Homer persuades Burns to sign over the plant to him while repairs are being done, and when Burns goes along with the plan, Homer fires him, but he quickly discovers dealing with the ins and outs of running the plan is more than he can handle. Hoping to keep Bart out of trouble, Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta) and Marge (voice of Julie Kavner) enroll their son in the "Pre-Teen Braves," a boy's club with a native-American slant that strives to keep youngsters occupied in positive ways. While Homer proves to be a lousy Braves leader, Marge rises to the occasion, and Bart soon becomes an unexpected do-gooder. However, Bart discovers that Milhouse and his dad Kirk (voice of Hank Azaria) have signed up with a similar club, "The Cavalry Kids," and soon the boys are locked in a bitter and destructive rivalry over who can do more for the community that climaxes in a melee at a Springfield Isotopes baseball game.
