Being a huge fan of the novel, I was a bit skeptical about seeing this. Needless to say the movie did not disappoint, it actually blew my expectations. The movie stayed true to the book while only eliminating a few things here and there that didn't really affect the plot or screw up the character development, so I have to give it props for that.
I also have to compliment on how fantastic the acting was. Every actor/actress involved in the movie, (especially Lerman and Watson), did a top-notch job at bringing an emotional depth to their characters that really helped bring out their vulnerable sides. Seriously speaking, if this movie doesn't hit a soft spot or at least make you think about your past high school experiences, something is very wrong with you. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. It perfectly captured the ups and downs of the high school experience while staying very true to the source materiel as well. I definitely recommend it to fans of the book or anyone whose just looking for a good time at the movies. |
