If you look at some of the most successful releases in film history, then you'll see that the majority of them are based on famous novels. Because of this, I'm happy to announce that I'm undertaking a year-long process about the relationship between book and movie. I'm calling this project Book vs. Movie.
The idea hit me when I was just assigned to read the novel Frankenstein in school. Knowing how excellent the movie was, I decided to analyze both film and book. In this project, I'll watch the movie first, likely review it if I haven't reviewed it yet, and then read the book and, in my blog pages, decide which is better; the book or the film. It's simple as that.
Some of the books I'll be reading in this project include books of horror (Mary Shelley's Frankenstein), Young Adult sensations (Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games and Orson Scott Card's Enders Game), stories of childhood fantasy (Rohald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, CS Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), books of adventure (Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island), a holiday treat (Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol), and what is reffered to as "The Great American Novel" (F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby).
I hope that the project is successful as I predict cause if it becomes really successful, I might extend my project for a couple more years. I hope to get the support I need for this project and feel free to comment anytime. This might be the project that defines my time on RT.

Goodluck on the project. I've read many books that turned into movies. You'll bound to get mix results. Like the film "The Godfather" is far superior than it source material. Or it could be like "The Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy" where the book is superior. Sometimes both end up being the same. Like Of Mice and Men where both end up telling great stories. It all depends on the ending to which version you'll prefer. Still, it'll be interesting to read where both fail and succeed.

Never read any book before a movie. Guess I was too busy ducking Major Strasser's questions about my loyalties. Sounds like a noble if time consuming project. Read Gone With the Wind and report back :)

I originally read books before watching the films, but with this project, I'm doing the opposite, cause it's quicker to see the film than read a lengthy book first. Thanks for reading.

Cool idea for a project. I used to always strive to read books before seeing the movie, but a mixture of not having enough time, and immense apathy have all but burned that out of me. Still, very interesting project idea to undertake!
