Going on a witch-hunt! Let the dogs out!! Whoop! Whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop! Let the dogs oouuuutt!! Whoop......
Vincent Price, in perhaps his most sinister and evil role ever, is a hunter of witches but has great aspirations to become the Witchfinder General for the king. He sure knows how to put his methods into practice! Pretty much everybody was a potential witch and he really needs no help in picking out the right ones. In fact, preist's with pretty daughters are almost always witches in disguise. What better way to remain hidden among the non-witchy folks? So a little time is needed to get the confession out of the preist and at the same time "interigate" his lovely daughter...who must be nude at the time. ;) It's a nice little scheme he has going. Now, luckily the preist's daughter is married to a soldier who could be Rambo's distant kin.
This film is great! It's also disturbing at times since some of this stuff probably happened in similar fashion. The acting (from everybody, not just Price) is very good. Often I'm on the edge of my seat. There are terrific locations ( I think I recognise a castle from the Monty Python skit about the guy who is going to eat the castle :D ) all well filmed. So...why the hell did Sony restore this film (according to a poster on imdb.com) for DVD release but not release it? Damned if I know! With Harry Potter...erm, potting all over the place we should get releases of many things like this. Whoever is holding this one back might be wearing a pointy black hat...
*gets hat and super glue ready*
At any rate, my VHS copy is pretty good...I was plesantly surprised that it's SP and not EP. I'll make my own damn DVD of it one day. It's just another Price film I happen to love.
