it is another great trailer, but bad movie thingy...
The story was very bland, the characters bland, plot bland. And i felt the animation was very lazy. Too many cheap animations, too many filler jokes, and just the saddest writing in recent memories for animations. if it can be shortened to 20 minutes, i probably would rated better... a total waste of Banderas and Hayek and other stars... If it was on the top chart, it's simply because of the love for the puss in the boots and banderas. I don't understand why put poo on the name of puss in the boots. |

it's not so bad, in terms a no brainer movie.
i thought the relationship between brother were quite touching. the relationship between girl and the prince, it's ok. the chit chat, which were interesting in the game were not in interesting here. i felt the timing of each of them were very wrong. CG was ok not great. but sound effect was pretty good.

I always admire sir Ridley Scott. His alien, black hawk down, and gladiator were so great! i loved them so very much. I thought Kingdom of Heaven was good. although the protagonist was very weak, the other supporting roles were all interesting and very memorable. when i first saw the commercial for Robin Hood, i thought, yeah, great! I love epic historic themed movies. I believed Sir Ridley Scott, though he may not be a great character creating artist, his track record showed that he's capable of creating awesome scenes from battlefield to melee combat.
...Robin Hood was a joke... not only does it have weak character, the war scenes, melee choreography was lacking. what was left behind then... well, all the political speeches were still intact. a very useless female character although superbly acted out by cate blanchett was put there for redundancy. an epic failure of a movie... it seemed Sir Ridley Scott was trying very hard to create a hero from all sides... to me, it failed from all sides... anyway, it's just sad... only if his next few movies could reignite anything in me, it's my last ridley scott movie in theater.

i saw this movie this morning. this was a very good experience. i think this is way better than the second one. when i saw the second one, i felt tired in the mid of the movie. i was engaged at the whole time for this one. there're moments i felt very cheesy, but i can't complain. because i had a good fun most of the time.
the visual in this movie was awesome, i was awed when the flying dutchman floating out of the surface. i loved the black pearl and flying dutchman fighting sequence. they really used CGI well, nothing felt too CGIsh. the music was well engraveed in the whole atmosphere. what i was most afraid of this movie was that there're too many stars in the movie. there're too many character stories in the movie. some of them i felt very unecessary. but in the end, this movie handled itself superbly well. the only thing i'd disappointed was that they still make elizabeth swan marry william turner, i'd preffer total tragedy. i felt the scene of them getting married was so cheesy, i want to cry...lol oh, and talking about elizabeth swan, what's with her speech... i know that hollywood movies loved speech, but nothing like miss swan's speech cracked me up more...free/freedom was mentioned here again. i just felt it ruined her speech although after that point on, the speech was fine... in spite of elizabeth-william turner plot, i loved the davy jone's plot, i loved jack sparrow's plot of returning, and i love that short english man, who acted really evil, love it! for Chow's role in the movie, i felt it's superfluous and superficial. the only reason he's in the movie was to attract Asians to watch the movie. and i think $400M box office proved this strategy to be very successful. :p To chow's defense, he did his job nicely. but very sadly, this movie already had too many roles, he really has no place to stay. what a movie could do is to engage audience in a plotline, where it was filled with memorable characters. what most attracted me to pirates was just that! Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, Davy Jones, Tia Dalma, and many other great pirates working under these captains. this movie was a feast, splendid and noizy. i loved it.
