I went to see Slither this weekend, hoping for a little bit of B-Movie silliness, and that's exactly what I got. I have to say that I was delighted with this movie. Yes, delighted! If you're going to make a movie about a bunch of outer space slugs who jump into human bodies and create zombies intent on taking over the earth, you better do it with tongue planted firmly in cheek. I think there was only one part in the movie I found to be just past campy and into the realm of stupid (note to film makers: fighting with animals is neither funny nor scary), and the rest of the flick had a really nice balance. Yes, it's goofy, but ut doesn't really try and take itself seriously either. Nathan Fillion has great comic timing, and he works well as the charming police chief hero. Also notable is Gregg "You'd know him if you saw him" Henry, who is crassly hysterical throughout.
If you feel like checking out a fun movie along the lines of Evil Dead II and Toxic Avenger (nice little tribute in the movie) that doesn't take itself too seriously and is genuinely funny, go see Slither.
