July 4th Weekend - Nice for once

    Posted on 07/08/05 09:58 PM | Last edited on 07/08/05 09:30 PM

I love my wife, I really do. Where I all too often get stuck in a rut, she seems to always be looking for something different to do. Where I would have sat at home over a holiday weekend, doing exactly what I did the weekend before, she thought ahead and planned a little trip. So, Saturday when I got home from work we threw some bags in the back of her Trailblazer, dropped the dogs off at the doggie daycare, and off we went to San Antonio, with a pitstop in Austin so that she could pick up some swag from her alma mater (I got a nice cap). The first day there we didn't do much besides wander about and then watch Batman Begins at the local IMAX. The next day went all through the Riverwalk, drank margaritas, zipped through the Alamo, and then had dinner at this great little Tex-Mex place called La Fogata. Afterwards we went back to the hotel, sauntered into the bar, and got fairly well drunk. The nocturnal activies were quite satisfactory as well. The next day we packed up, loaded up, and headed home, but NOT before stopping at this massive outlet strip mall. She had wanted to go to the Tommy Hilfiger outlet store, but when we saw that there was a Coach outlet we HAD to go there first. And, as luck would have it, not only did she find a purse she wanted for a fantastic price (she is a Coach woman, and has been for years), but I also found a wallet that I loved. It normally retails for about $140, but they had it on sale for $80, and so I got it. I tell ya, that leather is like butter. Every time I pull it out I sigh at the feel of it. Since we spent so much there we really didn't feel the need to spend more, so we drove straight on home, stopping only to pick up the dogs. The rest of that day we relaxed and got back into the home groove. It was a very nice weekend.

I hope all of you had a good holiday as well.

I intentionally injured myself and then spent an afternoon whacking weeds in the yard. I live dangerously.

i like those short one or two days trips where you don't go too far but far enough to be "away"

Brings back memories of my army days in Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and we'd go to Hooters at the Riverwalk. Great deal on the wallet; I've wanted a Louis Vutton wallet for so long but dang they cost $200!! Do they have an outlet, too??

I didn't see an outlet store for them, but there were just so many I know I didn't see all of them, and barely remember those that I did. If you live within driving distance, you ought to check it out for yourself. I'm still loving my Coach wallet. Like buttah! :)
