Do you realise, I've known you for a year and not once in that time have you given me a Neighbours update!!!

In all that time, I've never once watched Neighbours!! :D

That is a very odd tidbit about the Dux...
Hilarious cat picture!
And... I'm not an anime fan, but I have sat through a few feature-length movies to appease amigos. Most of them have been about giant tentacled beasts trying to turn all of the world's sexy female school teachers into lust-demons. Ninja Scroll was a little different, but I still didn't like it very much... and what was up with the guy who had a bee's nest for a back? wtf, mate?
on 1/27/06 at 06:32 PM
I hadn't watched much anime at all until middle of last year.... some I've liked pretty well, others, not so much... so far, I think I've missed the tentacle-beast/school teacher/lust demons one....
*heads over to google* ;)
on 1/27/06 at 06:47 PM
Hahaha, you're not missing much!
The only thing that I suppose can be considered anime that I like is Aeon Flux. Definitely worth a looksie, it's quite compelling if you ask me.
on 1/27/06 at 06:48 PM
I haven't seen any Aeon Flux yet. I liked Neon Genesis Evangelion pretty well - that's probably my favorite anime so far...

A huge and much deserved congrats on your thesis progress! :D
on 1/27/06 at 08:12 PM
I'm really happy with the way it's going!
on 1/27/06 at 08:27 PM
Well, you have been missed, but for good reason I see. I'll send some good thesis Karma your way...if I can, since I never have and never will write one myself.
on 1/27/06 at 09:49 PM
Thanks Linda! Every bit of karma helps!
on 1/27/06 at 09:15 PM
*is now glad she wasn't dux* :D
on 1/27/06 at 09:50 PM
Didn't this ever strike you as odd?? :)
on 1/27/06 at 10:03 PM
Nah, I dont spend a lot of time paying attention to what is written on the toilet. I'll leave the minutiae of life to you, my friend... :D :p

Ninja Scroll is a rockin' anime! I loved it.
Yep, I thought it was pretty good too!
on 1/28/06 at 02:00 AM
We get called duxes too. Though, I wasn't one. :( And, like cockneys, we tend to call mates "chinas"...so I guess there's a toilet reference in there too. Speaking of dux... I was listening to the Australia vs Sri Lanka game on Australia Day (ABC's worldwide feed), and some guy wrote in to the commentary crew, from Brisbane, to say he'd just won one of the cockroach races over there, with his runner called "Get back in the kitchen and cook me some eggs." Funniest thing I'd heard in ages. This
on 1/28/06 at 02:43 AM
That was a pretty 'blah' game of cricket all the way through.... still pretty funny though! I wasn't a dux (or valedictorian) either...
How are work things going? And the guitar stuff??
*suffering from Boob withdrawel*
on 1/29/06 at 11:22 PM
Things are going...really badly, though I am meeting with a potential client this morning. Other than that, Chris tried to get me to record on his new album for no fee, and when I refused he got really upset. Things are falling apart there. But he's actually a dick, so it's okay. The only up side: football league starts tomorrow, and I have new boots. :D
on 1/30/06 at 02:48 AM
Well.... sorry to hear that - on all counts. Except for the football...
It seems like it is probably cool that you got to do the stuff with Chris, but if he's a dick then maybe it's not such a big deal to have it finish... at least you know you do it at that level!
Getting a new business up is always hard. Wish I could help...
on 1/28/06 at 02:46 AM
Just to let you know, the stuff you wrote between the picture of the kiwi crapper and the kitty fish tank made my brain hurt. ;)
Ninja Scroll is one of my fave animes. The gore is awe-inspiring.
on 1/28/06 at 02:50 AM
That's ok, it made my brain hurt too... :D
on 1/28/06 at 06:32 AM
Gotta say it's gonna suck not having you around as much. :(
The cat pic is hilarious. Somehow it's appropriate the kitten is in a FISH TANK. LOL!
on 1/28/06 at 10:25 AM
Well, I won't be around any less than I have been this month... so, it's not like I'm gone or anything!
In the years that we've had that tank, it's had no fish in it for about 1/3 of the time, but there's still usually interesting stuff going on with it even when there aren't any fish! :D
on 1/28/06 at 11:14 AM
Just like there's always interesting stuff going on in empty boxes in our house.
on 1/28/06 at 11:16 AM
Is that because of Cotton?
on 1/28/06 at 08:09 AM
I'm impressed with your knowledge of NZ toilets!!!! Druid conference eh? *has suspicions RockinTim has hippy tendencies....* :D
So, the UK language peculiarity that gets me without fail is the pound thing...at the markets you can buy veges either by the pound in weight or in money. Ie. 4 apples for £1, or one pound (ca.600g) of apples. So asking for a pound of apples can get you two different results!
Aside: I hear you guys are getting Russell Crowe for good soon! *laughs hysterically*
on 1/28/06 at 10:31 AM
We lived in Palmerston North for 3.5 years, so I've got a reasonably good handle several things in NZ, including the toilets! :D
That pound of apples thing is crazy!! I love stuff like that!!
DRUID does sound pretty suss, doesn't it? It's actually the Danish Research Unit for Industrial Dynamics... although I guess it might be more interesting if it were guys in capes.... although, to be honest, when I think of 'druids', it just makes me think of the Stonehenge scene in Spinal Tap! :D
on 1/29/06 at 03:49 AM
Spinal Tap, fantastic movie :)
on 1/29/06 at 09:36 AM
One of my all-time faves!!
on 1/28/06 at 10:47 AM
i watched ninja scroll again a couple of weeks ago. didn't make such an impact as it did the first time. i felt kinda let down :(.
on 1/28/06 at 10:54 AM
I didn't love it, which was a little disappointing, because I've heard lots of raves about it...
on 1/29/06 at 06:25 AM
My English ex-boyfriend used to get all bent out of shape whenever I referred to my university as "school."
My cats won't stop fighting this morning...*sigh*.
Have you ever seen this site?
on 1/29/06 at 09:34 AM
When I was managing marketing for a polytechnic in NZ, the people on my team used to get bent out of shape for the same reason. It was kind of funny...
I hate when the cats won't stop fighting... :(
I haven't seen that site - it's a good one!
Oh, and congrats on getting engaged!! :)

dux! not only can you be referred to as the smartest, but also a toilet. ha..the beauty of life. :D
finally Tim! I was about to start rioting. BUT I'm glad you've been gone for some very impressive reasons. Congrats!
on 1/30/06 at 02:51 AM
Ha! You went 8 days without an update, and then when you did, I missed it. So I was about to start a riot too!! :D

once school starts back up i'm pulling my hair out most of the time. and i really don't have anything cool to show for my absence... a pile of wadded up kleenex, a crappy lit paper and an old pizza box. i like your list a hell of a lot better. ;)
on 1/30/06 at 01:52 PM
It's been the same for me - while classes have been going on it's been really hard to get research done. That's why it was crucial for me to get lots done during this summer break!
on 1/30/06 at 01:17 PM
Wow. Keep on working Tim! That's a load of stuff you've been doing and are doing and its only January!!!
on 1/30/06 at 01:49 PM
Thanks Glenn! This is the summer break down here, so it's the best time to get research work done. And I'm at a really exciting point in my work, so it's been fairly easy to keep focused on what I need to write. It's been great!

on 1/30/06 at 08:44 PM
:D I think I'm liking it more as I think back on it...
on 2/08/06 at 07:50 PM
Now that I'm all caught up... You have such cute wildlife! Indoors and outdoors! I love Possums and we have them all over our yard too but I've never had one on my roof. Hand-fed kittens are da bomb (I don't think I've ever heard anybody else say that but I speak from experience). I love the Dandy Warhols, but mainly for their name and I love Brian Jonestown Massacre ONLY for their name. And of course now I'm jealous because just when I haven't had time or will to write you come around with all
on 2/08/06 at 09:06 PM
Well!! That's a pretty complete summary! The advantage that I've got with writing right now is that it's the only thing I'm supposed to be doing with my time at the moment. Which helps a lot. But I'm still really blocked at the moment, which is frustrating, because I still have a lot to get done before the end of the month...
on 2/12/06 at 11:37 AM
Speaking of getting things done I finally finished my taxes today. It's never as bad as I think it will be. I wish writing was the only thing I had to do.
on 2/15/06 at 11:04 PM
It seems you liked it better when you wrote this, than what I had to judge from in my comments...
on 2/16/06 at 02:49 AM
I liked it ok then, but it hasn't stuck with me at all, which for me is a really bad sign....
on 2/16/06 at 01:44 PM
It's a 6er. That explains it.
Canada wins! Swiss upset!
on 2/16/06 at 01:52 PM
Yeah, it's a perfect 6er...
I haven't seen much of the Olympics at all so far... and they're not showing any hockey. Very annoying...
