I vaguely remember seeing this film on HBO two years ago, and with the upcoming release of Atari's 'Alone in the Dark' for the next generation consoles, I decided to pick up the Director's Cut in celebration. Now I had high hopes for this movie, I really did even though I knew who the director was. The movie begins with to my belief at least a useless test opening (like in Star Wars). However to already add insult to injury, Uwe Boll decided to have someone read it to us as if the viewer had no clue how to read. Then we move on to a pointless ten minute chase scene with really bad music, and as you could imagine if you have seen any other Boll film, it just gets worse from in on out. The only redeeming part is where they are in the museum, that was about the only suspenseful part that mirrored the game. I am very disappointed in this film, mainly because Uwe Boll turned this series which is suppose to be a suspense/horror into an action film. Why? I have no idea, but the final product is not good in any way. Do not get me wrong, I am not a senseless Boll basher, I was willing to give this film a chance at the least, but I feel like I just wasted time on it. If this movie did anything it ruined the game series image. If you are a die-hard AitD fan like me, then you should give it a chance for you could still like it (not promising anything worth wild though), if your just looking for a horror movie, I recommend something else.
