Closely Watched Trains was kind of a shock to watch. I would never have expected a coming-of-age sex comedy from 1966 czechoslovakian film. Once I figured out what this movie was, though, I couldn't help but somewhat appreciate how ahead of its time it was. In general, films about a young adults sexual escapades aren't really my thing, but this wasn't that bad (although his 'adventures' were still a little ho-hum to me). I saw a lot of similarities in style to Wes Anderson, and I have to assume this was an influence on his work. The framing of the shots, the subtle humor, and the somewhat mundane characters were all features I enjoyed. Overall, not a bad watch.
