This time I bring you reviews for two shooters, one for PS2 and one for Gamecube. R-Type Final is the last game in the series, a fond farewell to the fans. Ikaruga is a game many people probably haven't even heard of, let alone know how to pronounce. Playing these games back to back is like looking at day and night. R-Type Final is slow, methodical, visually beautiful, and has tons of stuff to unlock. Ikaruga is fast, insane, graphically old school, and short. For my money, though, Ikaruga's high voltage shots of adrenaline in small doses combined with its innovative combat system make R-Type Final look mundane in comparison.
