Sweet Dreams (1985)
Agrees With....
Posted on 6/25/06 at 8:50 AM Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I've been really busy with that crazy thing called life. But here's short little review for a movie I watched recently. It doesn't need a long winded review because it's just a plain old good movie.
Several times I've seen Sweet Dreams on cable, but never took the time to watch it. Something made me record it the other day and I'm glad I did. Sweet Dreams is the story of the legendary Patsy Cline, who died in a tragic plane crash March 5, 1963. Patsy Cline didn't have a sweet happy life. In fact her life was filled with hard work and lots of bumps in the road. Pasty Cline was a tough gal and this movie shows it. She worked hard for her rise to stardom. Patsy Cline: You want a lot don't you? Charlie Dick: Yeah I do baby. Patsy Cline: Well people in hell want ice water - that don't mean they get it. Jessica Lange plays Cline in this movie and gives quite and awesome performance. Lange actually did not sing in this movie, yet lip-synched and did a really good job at it. For Ed Harris fans he is in this aw well. Harris plays Clines dim-witted husband Charlie. Charlie Dick: Son of a bitch. You must think that thing between your legs is lined with gold. I can get tail any time I want, I don't have to come crawling after some mean mouthed woman who got a cob crossways. Hell, if I just want to bump uglies with somebody, I got plenty of places to go for that. Patsy Cline: Bump uglies? Charlie Dick: That's right. Patsy Cline: My lord Charlie, what a charming expression. This one in my opinion was just a well-done good movie. It's charming, sweet, heart warming, rough at times. I smiled, laughed and teared up at times. I'd recommend to give it a chance. |

I adore Patsy Cline, and I adore this movie. I am glad Lange lip-synced, I don't want to hear her, I want to hear Patsy.
If you liked this movie, you would like Coal Miner's daughter, about Loretta Lynn. Lynn was best friends with Patsy, who in that movie was also well-done by Beverly DeAngelo (? I think that is right, from the Vacation movies.)
Great review, and great quote!!

you and me both, I don't think anyone could have done justice to Clines voice.
I'll have to check out the movie you recommended. I've heard of it before but have never sat down like this one to watch it.

Oh, and by the way, I was going to recommend Coal Miner's Daughter...I see someone above me already did, so I second that. I actually love that one even more...it's an incredible film and Sissy Spacek's performance (which she won the Oscar for ) is one of the best I've ever seen. She sang all of the songs herself and sounded EXACTLY like Loretta Lynn. Gotta see it. ;)
