It's really something to look back on how much Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later changed my life. I'm telling you, in my belief it's the movie that really got me into the idea of wanting to get into film and pursue it as a career. Even though I'm only 17, I still plan to go into film, which is expensive by the way, and 28 Days Later is still very kickass.
here is the plot: Animal activists invade a laboratory with the intention of releasing chimpanzees that are undergoing experimentation, infected by a virus -a virus that causes rage. The naive activists ignore the pleas of a scientist to keep the cages locked, with disastrous results. Twenty-eight days later, our protagonist, Jim, wakes up from a coma, alone, in an abandoned hospital. He begins to seek out anyone else to find London is deserted, apparently without a living soul. After finding a church, which had become inhabited by zombie like humans intent on his demise, he runs for his life. Selena and Mark rescue him from the horde and bring him up to date on the mass carnage and horror as all of London tore itself apart. This is a tale of survival and ultimately, heroics, with nice subtext about mankind's savage nature
At this point the only Danny Boyle film I had seen was A Life Less Ordinary which it me was alright. But as soon as 28 Days came along I had a whole new respect for the man and his movies. If you look at my top ten you can see that his Sunshine with my favorite actor Cillian Murphy is at number 3. Without getting into it, It's amazing just like 28 Days. I...don't even know what I'm talking about really. Um...blah blah blah...screw it.
The characters are the strongest aspect of this movie, there really is no plot for them, you just follow them during this epidemic. Of course Jim is my favorite, followed by Frank, then Selena, then blah Hannah. I hate hannah, she is the girl who can't act and is annoying.
28 Days is a VERY well put together movie. The shooting, the soundtrack (I'll get more into this in a sec) and even the dialogue are absolutely perfect. I have the soundtrack for this film and holy shit it's so....mood changing. God I can't even explain how well done the music is and how it fits into the scenes. If anyone can find me the sunshine soundtrack I'd be really happy just so you know.
Because I have nothing left to say...I will leave you with this idea of mine. Ready?
My idea is of the third movie for a trilogy. It would be called 28 Seconds Later. Yep Seconds, not Months you fools. The movie would be of course 28 seconds long and the whole time it's of a man on top of a girl. It would appear he is attacking her, but then the screen fades an it says 28 Seconds Later. You then see a very happy man, and a very displeased woman laying next to eachother in a bed. [/font]
28 Days Later (boyle 2002) 8.5/10 :fresh: I rounded to a 9 up above.
