Catherine Keener, in my opinion, is the most talented amd all-roundedly amazing actress in Hollywood who happens to be criminally unsung. In the Oscar nominated film Capote, most critics single-out Hoffman as the "star of the show" and the man who single-handedly made the film as great as it is, but I really do think Keener was just as good in performance as Hoffman was. Anyone who has seen the film should agree with me in saying Keener's performance added alot of heart and emotion into the film, and needless to say, the acting was "Top Notch" and I really think she deserves an Oscar for this performance...
It's not only Capote n which she has shone. In the movie Being John Malkovich, in which she was more then a perfect casting for the role in being John Cusack's object of affection.
2005 wasn't the greatest of years in film, hence the not-so-anticipated wait for the Oscars from me, but the award for Best Supporting Actress I will have grest interest for, and it's this award in which Iam really rooting for a particular winner over other awards..Go Catherine Go!
I think it's time for Hollywood to really be aware of her talents, and hopefully see that she is Lead Actress material, and most importantly, Oscar Material for pretty much any dramatic film. Then we can really see the full potential of Catherine Keener.
