It's satisfying enough when you find a movie that works extrodinarily well in one genre. Ocassionally you find a movie that plays well in two. But the very rare movie like the Hurt Locker works surprising well in three -- as a drama, as a thriller, and as an action movie -- and none of them are every sacraficed due to the others. It isn't overly preachy and it doesn't reach for some phoney higher message. It just shows three men doing their job, a very dangerous job of bomb disposal, and it's original and brilliant.
