I put up a top 10 movie list about a year ago that include the following:
1.Saving Private Ryan (1998)2.Munich (2005)3.JFK (1991)4.Apocalypse Now Redux (2001)5.Dawn of the Dead (2004)6.The Departed (2006)7.12 Monkeys (1995)8.The Matrix (1999)9.Seven (1995)10.Goldeneye (1995) These have definitely changed, yet I am not comfortable with making a new one, yet. First of all, The Big Lebowski and The Godfather round out my top 2, and I have such an insane amount of DVD's right now, I don't know where to get started seeing them. |

 I was very excited to play and was expecting a lot from this game after reading all the enthusiastic reviews and general sense of awesomeness from people around the time it came out. To me though Half Life 2 Episode 1 was dissapointingly short, which I begrudgingly pretty much expected before playing it, and really just too light on new content. I'm really glad I got it for only 10 dollars, because if I had known of its problems, I probably wouldn't pay more than 10 dollars in the first place. That said, I did at least really like the commentary system that was first introduced in the Lost Coast tech demo, the like 1 or 2 new enemy types are used effectively and the map design offers a few new neat surprises. But then there are literally no new weapons and a few other problems persisting from the first game. Valve really should have come out with a full fledged expansion, because this just felt like more of the same of the game that came out almost a year and a half before, which don't get me wrong, was one of the best FPS' to come out in years, just that the type of gameplay here is already feeling a little outdated especially with the same sometimes terrible AI. There are better mods out there that I played more than a year ago that are better than this. You do at least get to know how the cliff hanger story of Half Life 2 ends, how Gordon escapes City 17 and all that jazz, but the ending of Episode 1 felt a lot like the ending of Halo 2; at point that wasn't very climactic to me, and over too soon, even for an episodic game(and I even caught most of the commentaries). |
