The Da Vinci Code
Well I just got back from seeing The Da Vinci Code. I have read the book and loved it. I would like to start of by saying that I don't know what the critics where smokeing but this film rocks. Yes it has a good bit of talking scenes but I found them very intresting ecspeacilly backed up with epic flashbacks of the crusades and other historical events. However this movie is not dull what so ever. Sure it does lose pace a bit due to the talking scenes but thoose scenes are needed to futher the plot of the film or else the audience would not know what was going on. When the pace does pick up it is a very entertaining experince.
The peformances of the actors where very well done unlike the critics have said. Tom Hanks performance was not his best but it was well done fitting his charecter Robert Langdon very well. Audrey Tautou also did a very well portrayel of Sophie Neveu, I felt at times she was just rippend strait from the book itself. Ian Mckellen's performance was the grand of them, he truely is Sir Leigh Teabing. He and Tom Hanks brought in humor at times where it was needed. All the other performances where well portrayed ecspeacilly Paul Bettany's role of Silas who I fell stole the show.
The production side of the film was good also. Ron Howard I feel could not have done any better. I feel the film was what it needed to be. I think what was the letdown was that people went in expecting a huge fast paced non-stop thriller. What they got was a suspense/drama. Which is exactly what The Da Vinci Code is. Hugh Zeffers score of course made the film whole with exciteing numbers makeing you feel the emotion on screen. Don't go into this film expecting what the critics said because thats exactly what you will see. Go into it with an open mind and you will get good thrilling entertainment but also an intresting point that puts your mind to the test.
Me and my grandmother where talking about the film the whole way home because it definitly brings out some intresting discussion topics. This film is the film we where expecting. It was just misleaded under all the other things surronding it. This is overall a fun film. It takes you on an entertaining and thrilling experience, but also puts you mind to the test and leads you to ask "what if". It is a deeply involving and intrigueing film and I loved every minute. Don't listen to the critics on this one go and see for yourself. You will have a great time.
