Well......'Bout time to be hittin' that old dusty trail.

    Posted on 10/09/06 08:56 PM | Last edited on 10/09/06 08:52 PM

Kids, as they say all around the world, it's been fun.

I have hardly any time at all for the internet anymore, and to keep my page running here on RT would make no sense at all. So I bid all of my friends here adieu, and wish you all the best.

I have a blog on blogger.com that I do update with random life tidbits, so if you want to keep up with me, the name of my blog on there is called SPATIAL RELATIONS. Look it up.

I'll leave my RT Journal up for a couple of days for those of you who want to say goodbye. Otherwise, have a good one, folks here at RT.

    For the last time...................

    Peace.................

The motherfucking annoyance of the Los Angeles Lakers.

    Posted on 04/30/06 03:49 PM | Last edited on 04/30/06 03:44 PM

Dear lord, how I hate it when a sub-par team performs better than a team that is the better team, in this case the Phoenix Suns. Now, granted, I'm not a fan of the Suns. I am a fan of Steve Nash, and I think he got the major screwjob at the end of the game today.

I fucking hate Los Angeles and everything that stupid fucking team stands for. Flashy fucking bullshit basketball. I like Kobe Bryant, I respect the holy hell out of his game, but I want the Lakers to go away. Fucking town full of fake-ass basketball "fans" that don't know shit about the game.

Here's to hoping they're swept out of round 2, seeing as how they're about to upset Phoenix.

    Just a thought.........about something.

    Posted on 04/05/06 09:59 PM | Last edited on 04/05/06 09:43 PM

I just wanted to say that I think South Park is still a seriously underrated show. My good friend Darbos doesn't agree, saying that the show is "low-brow" and not his style of humor, but I disagree. I accept his opinion, but alas, I disagree with it.

Take tonight's episode, entitled "Cartoon Wars" which is in turn about Family Guy. In case you don't know, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are quite the vocal critics of the show, going on record as hating it. While I myself love Family Guy, the way they lampooned the show was absolutely spot-on and ridiculously funny. This is why I love this show. Sure, it can be low-brow, but I believe that the very humor the show is criticized for is what makes it so illuminatingly brilliant. The entire show, the entire series is complete satirization of free speech, or the lack thereof in this country that we call home.

Which brings me back to tonight's episode. They took everything that is wrong with Family Guy (and believe me, as much as I love the show, there are things wrong with it) and turned it up to 10, outrageously overheating it and at the same time brilliantly satirizing what makes that show so popular.

There are great shows on TV (Lost, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, The Office, various other programs that I can't think of at the moment) but pound for pound, it seems like South Park does not lose steam, really ever. The Simpsons will never be overtaken as the greatest and funniest animated show ever, even after it's severe decline starting at season 11. Seriously, seasons 3-9 of this show are pure, unfiltered gold. Just making a point, you know.

That being said, I'll still watch South Park loyally. It is the second-best animated program of all-time.

    Two days in a row?

    33.

    VANILLA SKY 2001 (Cameron Crowe)
I hate Cameron Crowe films. I find them to be way too fucking convenient and their view of the world is ridiculously naive. That being said, seeing as how this originally wasn't his concept, maybe that's why I love the film. There are some Crowe bullshitisms, but the overall effect of the film is incredibly powerful, especially the last 20 minutes. A film I am proud to say is in my collection.

    32.

DAY OF THE DEAD 1985 (George A. Romero)
I may be hurting some folks by saying this, but this is my favorite film of the quadrilogy of Romero zombie films. I don't know what it is, but there is something about this film that makes me love it even more than I already love the other films in the series. Maybe because it's the darkest, most depressing of the series. Who knows. I have my reasons, and that's all that matters!

    31.

    NARC 2002 (Joe Carnahan)
Fucking awesome............that should be the only way anyone ever describes this completely visceral experience of a film. "Hey Jim! Have you seen NARC? Fucking awesome, right?" Seriously, every person I have recommended this film to has said these words to me, and I'm completely serious. Except for Jim, because my name is Zak.

    30.

    OLDBOY 2003 (Park Chan-Wook)
That rare film that I have seen that actually warrants the label of "instant classic" which is not many these days, this a wonderful film that still holds up on repeat viewings. I understand that some people watch this film as purely a visceral experience, but it really is so much more than that. The film to me is incredibly human, and by that I mean that it is about what it means to overcome burdens and find redemption, something any person can relate to.

YES! Vanilla Sky is my favorite film :) It's a really personal thing with me. Always cool to find out someone else likes it. I love Crowe, but actually completely agree with you that the world view in his films is naive. I buy into it though, since the films are so indellable for me. It's a tough middle ground.

    36.

FROM DUSK TIL DAWN 1996 (Robert Rodriguez)
"Did they look like psychos, is that what they looked like? They were vampires! Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them I don't give a fuck how crazy they are!" The only reason anyone could ever need to love the fuck out of this film. It's not the only reason I need. This is George Clooney as the world's hardest motherfucking outlaw. The same guy that just won an oscar for SYRIANA, the same guy that directed GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK. Fucking fantastic.

    35.

    DONNIE DARKO 2001 (Richard Kelly)
Technically, this and the director's cut, but hey, what are you gonna do? Everyone and their motherfucking mothers know and like this film. Everyone also claims to have seen it in the theater. Bullshit, because it only played in about 120 screens during its theatrical run. I won't lie, I discovered it on DVD, but that doesn't matter, because it's still a great film, and an unbelievable debut from Richard Kelly. SOUTHLAND TALES is very soon...............

    34.

    25th HOUR 2002 (Spike Lee)
Every time I see this film, it brings me to tears. I don't care how you feel about Spike Lee or his films, and you may not be a fan like I am, but you can't deny what he has done here. The music, the images, the performances(who knew Barry Pepper was this fucking great?)everything works, and works beautifully. A powerful, fuck that, ridiculously powerful film.

    39.

THE BAD SLEEP WELL 1960 (Akira Kurosawa)
I'm rather a fan of this wonderful film noir, and I don't feel it gets enough love as far as Kurosawa goes. It's another in the excellent line of Kurosawa/Mifune collaborations, but the only thing different about this one is that it's a bit of a departure for both. No matter, because the both of them complement each other wonderfully, and it results in another classic from Kurosawa.

    38.

THE STREET FIGHTER 1974 (Sakae Ozawa)
You gotta love this film. You gotta love Sonny Chiba. The fact that he's essentially a mercenary in this film makes it even better. This incredibly violent martial arts piece of brilliance is extremely notable for the fact that the main character is not very redeemable at all. He does whatever he can to win a fight, and it's very refreshing to see that not every character in a martial arts film is heroic and honest.

    37.

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM 2000 (Darren Aronofsky)
The intensity of this film is pretty much unrivaled in cinema. In fact, the entire last half hour of the film is equivalent to receiving consecutive left hooks to the brain. To be able to create and sustain that kind of intensity is near impossible, unless you're Darren Aronofsky. After that, you pretty much realize that the man is a genius.

My friends, I present to you the most film-ignorant, sorry-ass excuse for a "film critic" that I have ever seen. This dogfucker is a critic for Entertainment Weekly, a shitty magazine as it is, but to read his reviews is to read shitty writing, terrible reviews, and a general misunderstanding of pretty much every film that comes down the road. It's almost as if he watches film on one level only, not paying attention to subtext, symbolism, imagery, anything. It's like he grades a film on how it makes him "feel" after watching it.

What makes matters worse is he's a bad writer, and his sense of humor is severely lacking. Absolutely terrible, and if you read EW and you actually think he or his reviews are good, then I feel very sorry for you.

    Sick screwjobs.

    Posted on 03/09/06 04:59 PM | Last edited on 03/09/06 04:52 PM

That mood should actually be fucking rotten, because I'm just now getting over what was not a fun couple of days. To tell you the truth, I was in a bad, really bad way these past couple of days.

As my friend Darboski wrote, you might as well have assigned me to the land of the dead, because I was ridiculously sick. Shivering to the point of hyperventilation, and it was 70 degrees here where I live. Body aches, headaches, inability of breathing correctly, coughing up colors of unimaginable weirdness, it was all there in its snotty, disgusting, sick-ass glory.

I'm better now, but for a little bit, I was sicker than I've been in a long, long time. Damn near emergency room sick.

CRASH? The best picture of 2005? This fucking simple-minded travesty of a film is the best film of 2005? Fuck me running. Fuck me sideways.

I hate the word crash now.
