Archie's Final Project is one of the more realistic films that looks at suicide I've seen, that will turn some people away and it's not a film for everyone, I'm sure some would hate it but they shouldn't. Archie who is played by a solid Gabriel Sunday is an average high schooler, while not overly picked on or depressed he is just lost, has no close friends and is sick of all the bullshit. One day he declares for a class project that he is going to film himself committing suicide. With the cops arrival to take him away for a psychiatric evaluation, the whole school notices him, including his dream girl since freshman year, Sierra Silver (the beautiful Brooke Nevin). Sierra who hides behind a smile of massacre turns out to be more of a kindred spirit than he would have ever guessed. While a hyperactive film full of Archie's handheld camera work, rotoscope animation, and his impressions from the films he loves (including a descent Christopher Walken from Deer Hunter), Final Project captures a realistic glimps of a lost teenager who most decide to stay alive and dream his dreams or go through with his project and encounter the last time he will ever go to sleep. Grade: B.
