I really liked this film, Friedkin is still making edgy films (see his previous film 'Bug') at 70-80 years of age and is to be commended. Sure it's dark material but it plays its hand confidently. I gave it 80%.

I actually really liked it! McC gave the performance of his career and Friedkin still has the ability to shock! It def is sleazy and gory so I can agree with you there.

I have not seen any of Friedkin's earlier work. This movie came across as an exploitation for me.

wow, it looks like you didn't like it... I pretty much loved it. crazy mix of film noir with Tarantinoesque violence. a bit over the top, so I understand that some might not like it. good review

I am kind of stuck in the middle of liking and disliking. Style, violence and sleaze felt a bit forced for me

I found Killer Joe a refreshing change of pace in the trailer park trash genre. Because it was not as predictable as most films are, I got quite a few thrills out of it. Friedkin knows what he is doing.
