Over the Hedge succumbs to many cliches during its run-time; for example, the main character has an arc that involves him gaining the trust of his friends, losing the trust of his friends, and then gaining the trust of his friends again. However, the dialogue is funny and smart enough, and much of the film lampoons the sedentary life of the average upper-middle class American. The characters, RJ and Verne in particular, are very well-developed for a family movie, and the supporting cast gets its fair share of screen-time. This movie also helped me to get over a hangover. Good stuff.
