Park Chan Wook sure knows how to use a camera. The craftsmanship on display here is a sight to behold. So it's a shame 'Stoker's' stuffy Hitchcock-esk world doesn't allow for the same kind of giddy free-wheeling outside the land of framing and lighting. The characters here are repressed and stoic. Shells of real people (though that's likely the point). The simple plot kind of flows wherever it will. Strange places, though nowhere you wouldn't expect. 'Stoker' seems less something to be enjoyed so much as studied and admired.
