Overall, I enjoyed the movie, mostly because I saw how much my girlfriend loved the books. Some of the scenes can definitely seem "cheesy" (e.g. - the baseball scene), but it was actually in the book, I so I suspended my belief and accepted it.
Acting. It's not great, but I've definitely seen worse in my own personal genre preference (sci-fi, fantasy, action). Hopefully the new movie can improve upon the pitfalls that this one fell into. Maybe I gave the movie a fair shake due to my bias of liking vampire movies. Personally, I preferred a sappy teenage movie that I can roll my eyes at, at times, over the ridiculous and godawful "Vampires" from John Carpenter. |

One of the worst endings ever.

The first 1/4 of the movie rocked, but after that it turned into a "Feel good, save the farm" piece of hackneyed and trite garbage. The type of humor in the beginning was completely different than the rest of the movie. The worst part of all? It seemed that the main characters were loser, nobody, morons - and I can accept that - but the rest of the cast all came off as complete boobs and baffoons, and not in a funny way.
I suspended my beliefs for a short time for the first 20 minutes, which I loved, but I can't get over how bad the movie got after that. The ending? Who knows what happened to the store. It's not a mystery that people will want to think about and fill in the blanks for themselves. The movie's not that deep. It smells like they ran out of money. |
