I guess that is a good way of putting. It is overlooked and it is also one of my favourites as well. 0 Replies | Report Abuse This was one of my ex-boyfriend's fave movies of all time. I was amazed to realize that there was a Hitchcock film I had not seen. So we watched it together. Was very disturbing (in a good way). It got under my skin. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Cotten was perhaps the most under rated and under appreciated actors of ALL time. He, alas, got no respect. Thanks for bringing yet another screen gem to the fore. A gold star for you. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

There are films from the sixties that should be required viewing as a way of educating fans of film. This is an example. The subject matter or setting may not appeal to many I would suspect in today's action orientated audiences. And then, animated films did not dominate the screen back then either. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Agreed all the way here. I'm not one who loves these big, broad, epics, but this was a masterpiece. Great review... 1 Replies | Report Abuse ok, so you missed on Gone With the Wind, I will give you a dispensation. If you liked this one, you are OK with me. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Well, I just knew you would spot a winner when you actually witnessed one. Set this one as your gold standard and leave the rest behind. Glad you just saw history come alive in this iconic film. And that ain't no joke. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

This film is one of a kind. Do you like any of Malick's other films? I think they're very good as well, but 'Days' was his masterpiece. I can still remember seeing it for the first time about 10 years ago, and thinking that it seemed to breathe. I could almost smell it. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I have actually liked all his films. "Days" is my favorite as well. The least best would probably be "A New World". But I still like it. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I just looked Malick up, and he's got a film coming out next year starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. Fascinating casting, no? Title is "The Tree of Life." Can't wait for it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

aww....your reviews have become more and more shorter=( 1 Replies | Report Abuse I know...I should make them longer. I'm trying to catch up on the thousands of films that I've seen, so I think I might be trying to add them too quickly. I'm sorry. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Have you seen The Godfather Part II yet? If you haven't, you should. That is also a great movie. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I have seen "The Godfather Part II". I agree it is a wonderful film. 2 Replies | Report Abuse Wasn't sure because I see there is no review nor rating for the movie on RT. Glad to hear you agree. Just out of curiosity and I am not holding this against you in any sort of way, is there a fair number of films you have seen that you have rated/reviewed on RT? 1 Replies | Report Abuse So with regards to the second reply, does mean you have more than 7,000 films?! Wow, that's a lot. How many of the 84 Best Picture winners have you seen? 1 Replies | Report Abuse I'll have to count them up. I do know that I have seen every Best Picture winner and nominee back to 1949. And I have seen about half of the ones from the 1940's and am working on the 1930's ones as well. I am missing a few of the Best Pictures of the 30's and 40's, but will eventually get them all...if I can. You will find this amusing and confounding at the same time, but I have NOT seen ANY of the Godfather flicks! Weird isn't it? I think there must be some moral problem I have in not seeing these treasures, but honestly, they scare the hell out of me as they are based on reality...not fiction. 0 Replies | Report Abuse One of my all-time faves as well. Was this the first time you've seen it?! By a lovely coincidence, I'm at this very moment drinking one of Francis Coppola's wines! His wines are fantastic. I'm drinking his Zinfandel from 2009. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I saw it years ago and rewatch it almost once a year. Hmmm. a Francis Coppola wine sounds wonderful. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

The current crop of film goers tend to make the Godfather series their cinema god. I tend to see earlier flicks as the gold standard, like Gone With the Wind and Lawrence of Arabia. But no matter. Its all good stuff in the end. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

And the only film I ever ranked above Casablanca as the greatest love and historical drama ever told. Yes, a few on RT have maligned this film as a so what type of thing, but really, who worth their salt as a film critic would doubt the film as a stunner in every category? Fantastic review, fantasic photo... thanks for spreading the word to RT world and its a shame it needed spreading.

Now, if you care to, review Lawrence of Arabia. Its a long 3 hour film that may not seem so long. I checked and so far no review from you as yet.

It's WAY over done. And I'm just not a fan of the over dramatic acting from Leigh, in almost every film I've seen her in. And I personally believe that the epic genre in film is the most overrated, with the exception of Lawrence of Arabia, and Titanic. So I must disagree with your opinion.
