Occasionally the critics get it wrong. The majority of reviewers are not 'fanboy' types who appreciate this type of film. Would you trust a general music critics to review your favorite band in a niche genre? The odds are that they just wouldn't 'get it'.

Sucker Punch is clearly a movie for the fanboy base and it likely have limited appeal outside of that niche audience. It really isn't some crappy movie dressed up with great visuals and hot girls. Sure, it's cool, stylish and fun but it sports a pretty interesting story as well.

I had braced myself for the impending suck after browsing the many negative reviews from those who constantly fawn over every low budget film found in an arthouse. Sucker Punch is the kind of big budget, effects-driven movie that those kinds of critics take glee in tearing down.
