There hasn't been a game this good since the original "God of War". "God of War II" has everything. A great story that leaves you wanting more, great characters, awesome graphics, amazing sound. This game is huge in every way. It is hard to believe that you're actually playing a PS2 game.
For those who haven't followed the God of War story, you are Kratos. A warrior who sold his soul to Aries in the first God of War. In order to defeat his many enemies, Kratos swore that he would do Aries bidding if only Aries would strike down his enemies. Aries did what he was asked to do, but at a high price. A price that Kratos lived to regret.
At the end of God of War, Kratos became the new war god. Defeating Aries, he took his place and this is where God of War II comes into play.
Kratos is an unhappy God. He is tortured by memories of his wife and child, the family he mistakenly killed. He is angry at the Gods for letting his life continue on. He wants nothing more than to forget the pain of the past but he is trapped. He blames Zues. The God of Gods.
In God of War II, Zues betrays Kratos, turning him human once more. Kratos sets out on the path of revenge, but killing a God isn't an easy task. He gets help from some very powerful beings who want to see Zues fall. Before he can take on Zues, he has to travel to the Sisters of Fate in order to go back in time to the moment Zues betrayed him. This is where most of the game takes place. Along the way, Kratos fights many battles and runs into some old foes from the past.
I had high expectations from God of War II. I never dreamed that all of my expectations would be met let alone passed. God of War II is a perfect game but in order to see it for what it is, one must know the full story and that only comes through beating the first God of War, then the second. Give it a shot, it is well worth your time! THe ending will leave you in awe.
