After viewing the 1954 little seen film by Richard Carlson, I realize why it falls into that category. A slow build up to a rather unspectacular and poorly rendered special effects ending, leaves you with with little to nothing.
A group of the top scientist are gathered in the desert for a project they know nothing about. Once there, several tests are administered to weed the group down to three idiots dumb enough to ride a rocket into space to capture an asteroid.
Some archive footage of V2 rockets is sprinkled into the film, along with some Buck Rogers style effects that will make you laugh out loud -- just not enough to make it a good MST3K candidate.
Some mediocre science, some OK acting, some OK dialog, some romance (gotta have that), and you end up with a mediocre film for the vaults.
Caution: Breaking the seal of this movie reel may result in boredom, occasional laughter, and a loss of 75 minutes of your life.
