I am quite interested to hear what you think of The Fly and Dead Ringers. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I think it's pretty interesting that you didn't love either film upon first viewing yet were blown away with both of them a second time around. I haven't seen "Eastern Promises" yet, but I guess you could say I liked "A History of Violence" and respected Cronenberg's direction. I think I gave it a 7/10. But your review(s) prompted me to put "A History of Violence" back onto my queue for a second round. (Oh and "Eastern Promises" is currently sitting in the SAVED section) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Yeah, for some reason, when I knew what was coming in A History of Violence, it was all so compelling. I'll never be able to explain how I missed that the first time around. Have you ever had an experience like that with a particular film? 0 Replies | Report Abuse What is it about Eastern Promises that made you like both of them again? I loved A History of Violence the first time I saw it. However, seeing Eastern Promises, it feels so straight forward. I didn't dislike it (I'd probably give it a 7/10) but I have no sense of mystery or wonder. It was as thought everything felt straight forward. Some movies do warrant a second viewing. Seeing Memento the third time was perhaps one of my greatest experiences ever. Seeing Hero, 2046, Daredevil, Befor 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Annie Hall is, in my opinion, Woody's true opus. Crimes and Misdemenors may be a better film, but NOTHING on the face of the earth captures the true spirit of Woody the way that Annie Hall does. *gazes at poster lovingly* I really hope that you like Interiors. I adore it (as well as his best drama, September)... though some seem to think that it's melodrama turns it into a "laughable misfire". It's not In The Bedroom, but it's damn good. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Interiors is a lot like In the Bedroom. Sure, it's not as good, but similar nonetheless. I thought it was one of Woody's best films. I am looking forwarf to September because it is one of the three Woody films I never saw. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's amazing. Elaine Stritch is really terrific, as is Mia Farrow. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Love and Death is Woody's funniest film. Any thoughts? 1 Replies | Report Abuse Agreed!!! As much as I loved Bananas this last time, Love and Death will always remain his funniest work. 0 Replies | Report Abuse About the Sleeper review: "Who framed Richard Nixon? I love it for the same reason. While its flawed in a few respects to a moderate degree, I love it for the sad love story, the fact is scarred me even my second time watching, and the subtle political allegory. In addition, I feel like the allegory is sympathetic. It understands the pain behind the actions, even if greatly misguided. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Hmmm... not that I know who this reliable source is. But I certainly don't remember calling September Woody's best drama. If I did, then I meant to say that it was his second best behind Interiors (though in rality Crimes and Misdemenors and Another Woman may be better... September really struck a chord with me.) 1 Replies | Report Abuse WELL, YOU DID SAY IT!!! YOU RELIABLE SOURCE YOU!!! 1 Replies | Report Abuse I'm sorrry Mr. Jason. But, I stand by saying that Elaine Stritch and Mia Farrow are fantastic. 1 Replies | Report Abuse |

Really? A 10? Really? That goes against my current philosophy of holding 10's sacred on an elite level... 1 Replies | Report Abuse I REALLY love this film. It's up there with my favorite Sci-Fi. Perhaps just below Minority Report and Children of Men, but on par with Solaris - which you know I LOVE as well. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Hm... then your sci-fi list is in vast need of improvement... 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I am happy to find that you loved this one as well, but how couldn't you with the way Malick creates an entirely new perspective. I have to say, this recent talk of great filmmakers like Malick makes me want to continue my 100 Favorite Directors list, it's been slacking. I am the biggest fan of both him and David Gordon Green, who was obviously influenced hugely by Malick. "Undertow" was co-executive produced by Malick as well. 0 Replies | Report Abuse David Gordon Green is a hack. He's wretched. His "indie quirk" piece of crap All the Real Girls is just that --no more successful that other indie quirk junk such as MAYAEWK or Garden State. I like what I have seen of Malick --well, at least The New World. I guess I'll give it another shot. What was so great about Days of Heaven? I read your review, longing to find out, but you only say that it is beautiful... what makes it a masterpiece? 0 Replies | Report Abuse Badlands is my favorite. It maybe because of the fact that I am partial tp Spacek's 70's performances! Anyway i cannot wait for your review on it!! 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Hehehe... and as we have theorized before, I bet he would do it wearing a cape and some bat-ears! Correction: Batman Begins is the best summer blockbuster since The Bourne Supremacy. P.S. Haven't you seen 4 Nolan films?

I like Following more than Insomnia... But then again, I also like Carnivale more than Twin Peaks... so we certainly don't always agree... (I have finally become addicted)

Completely agree with this review, as you probably know (but you never leave me posts anymore :(), and I don't quite understand why everyone is bashing "War of the Worlds." Why is everyone doing this terrible thing?

Because it was no better than an Emmerich film. No characterization, no emotional connection, no intelligent political subtext (it only pretended), and a very bad ending.
