WOW indeed sherry! Glad you revisited this film. I thought, before looking, that you rarely give out 100 ratings. I figured maybe a 90 from you, but no, a hundred.I sometimes rewatch a film after years. Usually it doesn't change my opinion of it. But as my mood and life has changed, so can my mind change about a movie. I guess that happened to yourself. A Highly Recommended too!Isn't it fun to rediscover a movie in such a positive way? 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

The best movie ever made! You actually said it! I love you! It is my favorite. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I wanted to see more mention of Gable in your review but Scarlett no doubt was the lead in the film and sort of relegated him to supporting cast with everyone else. But his parting "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn" retort to Scarlett's "What shall I do" question is one of those quotable quotes in film which is its trademark I think.I keep going back to the title "Gone With the Wind" where southern high society and lifestyle was swept away by the War. And Rhett's foreshadowing ev 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review! It's such a terrific film, and I'm sure my love for it will only grow with future rewatches. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thank you! And let me say, read the book as well if you like the movie! The reason why Scarlett is so bratty (and to some people very annoying) at times is because the character is only 16 years old (in the book). In the movie she's supposed to be older of course, but her immature behavour can be explained by the fact that she's just a little girl. (sorry, just wanted to give Scarlett some justice:) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Oh okay. When I watched it, I kind of wondered what made her such a grump. I kind of just assumed it was because she was rich. Thanks for the info! I actually saw the book at the library and pondered whether or not I should take it out. I decided not to because of its size. Maybe I should give it a try. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Great review. I totally agree, especially with your last line. I honestly can't think of anyone who hasn't seen this, even people who aren't into classics have seen it. Garland's rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow is so beautiful that I cry whenever I see it. In fact, it's the only moment in film history that has ever made me cry. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thank you :) Oh, Judy Garland's voice can really make me shiver! This movie is just adorable! 0 Replies | Report Abuse i didn't like this one as much others. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

well, you finally got round to seeing this rosebud thing. I always thought it was made much earlier for some reason. I associate it with The Magnificent Ambersons, another Welles classic. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Haha, no. Did you really believe that I watched Citizen Kane for the first time this month?! Citizen Kane, if any movie would have been on my Movies You'd Be Suprised I haven't Seen-list. But I saw it for the first time five years ago. Since RT's (lousy) update, everytime you change a movie rating the date will be changed as well. I was supried that I had only given it 80%, so I had to change it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Wow, one of the best movies EVER made? Thats very high praise! Makes me want to see it for sure, if I haven't already. Was it better than The Magnificent Seven? The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence? True Grit? How the West was Won? Well, Sergio is in a class all his own and its hard to compare.Over the years I came to appreciate Sergio's work, but it took a very long time as he was way, way ahead of his time. I have all three of Eastwood's classic films with Sergio, but I don't think 1 Replies | Report Abuse Westerns are not really my cup of tea to be honest. I think every second western from the 1930s-60s is about some badass coming to a small town, disturbing the peace and giving the sheriff (John Wayne, James Stewart or Roy Rogers) something to deal with. Or either it's always indians that are the crooks. Can be dull at times. But this is something very very special. For sure one of the best movies ever made. 1 Replies | Report Abuse glad you put me on to it. I must admit though, Fonda as a villain is pretty hard to watch since other roles cast him in kinder circumstances, but he and suprisingly Robards were excellent. I didn't recognize Robards with all that hair at first. Take my reviews with a grain of salt, especially if they come down hard on something. Besides, my writing a review counts for nothing, really. Its like a snapshot for me in time actually. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Well said. Its a good western. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

What a cool review of yes, a classic. Peter Sellers is just plain neglected by most RT members. His humor probably escapes most of them. Andy Williams' former wife, Longet, was destined to be jailed for murder of a skier in Colorado. Probably the ONLY movie she ever made too! And yes, Henry Mancini, the most celebrated composer of films I think I ever heard of. Great review and thanks for exposing this remarkable era in filmaking. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Yes, I've heard that Claudine Longet was prosecuted for murder for another husband of hers (i think it was). According to what I heard, he was abusing her. Claudine's music career was much more successful then her movie career (I actually own a CD with her music, it's pretty good!). 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of it. I liked it enough to give it a 70% but I've always considered it to be a tad overrated. Maybe I just wasn't in a good mood when I watched it. Very good review though! :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse I respect your honesty. But you should give this movie one more try, and if it still feels like a 70% it's just to accept. You know that I have quite a bunch of movies that everybody loves, the critics and everybody here, but I just can't. Those movies, I've decided to give one more chance before reviewing (and receiving trash from the fans;) I gave Casablanca 60% after having seen it for the first time. I rewatched it a year ago, and finally understood it's greatness (and raised it's rating)! G 1 Replies | Report Abuse Was your comment cut off? Or was that G at the end meant to be there? :P And yeah, I've noticed you've given a lot of "classics" low ratings. Nothing wrong with that though. There's really no point to rating films if they just coincide with the critics every single time. There are a ton that I didn't care for either. I'll definitely give this another try someday. Probably not right away, but I definitely will eventually. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Completley agree about John Wiliams musical score making the strongest impact on the film, but over time the plot seems so generic and simplistic these days because of recycling and reusing from old formulas making the impact less effective as it used to be when it was first released! 2 Replies | Report Abuse You have jotted down some excellent points! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thank you! Glad you liked my review! :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse I hesitated at first to give the music score so much credit, not wanting to belittle the actors and the directors achievements. But I think (and hope) I made my point clear, and praised the others enough as well. Of course, you could be right about; using more of these old formulas could eventually get less effective, like everything eventually becomes clichés. I don't know much about making movies and such things, but I have a theory that a truly talented director can make sand into grains of 0 Replies | Report Abuse Just a HUGE film. Watch it when it was made, watch in now... doesn't matter. Its just terrific. If you don't get scared for that gal in the water having her legs chewed off, you ain't human or your blind. Great review, but I told you so.. why in the world have you not seen this by now????? 1 Replies | Report Abuse I'm so lucky there aren't any white sharks in Sweden! Though still, me and my friends when we were kids, used to frighten each other of what might live in the dark reeds (like a vicious pike or a grass snake) when we were swimming. There are hardly any dangerous animals at all in Sweden, actually. I'm glad that you still like my reviews, but I'm not sure if that last question was generally, rhetorically meant, or if you thought I haven't seen it till now? I have at least seen this movie a dozen 1 Replies | Report Abuse *times since the first time I watched it, about 13 years ago. You know me, monsieur Rick!* 1 Replies | Report Abuse |

A 100%! Somehow I had the feeling that you wouldn't like it, but I'm glad to see you rated my favorite Spielberger so highly. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I had real issues with this film as I recall, still it is a fresh. Maybe not a 100, but this speaks much about your idea of a hundred. Maybe a hundred has to be a very creative and original plot? 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding! Another winner, Give this gal a doll. 2 Replies | Report Abuse LOVE THIS MOVIE! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I should perhaps review it, since not so many people here on RT know about it? 1 Replies | Report Abuse yeah, I guess. Go ahead. youtube might even have some clips. Tatum, his daughter, was pretty good too. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Can't agree with you more Sherry9lee! Who would know that we would witness the only and most famous daughter-father acting roles in cinema history. Can you think of another much less as good a film as this? After Love Story, how could O'Neil do better, but he and Tatum sure did. Great review, a very memorable film done in black and white to good effect. Thanks for bringing this to a sadly unaware generation. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |
