Best Bat-Film ever! Nolan & Crew surpass the hype & deliver greatness

    Posted on 10/21/08 11:22 PM | Last edited on 10/21/08 11:02 PM

In the long history of Bat flicks, the placement of each film is a much debated

argument. I think to be fair when doing a list like this, you have to try to

understand and respect each bat-series. So, here i go ranking the Bat-films and

    an explaination to each film:

    1) The Dark Knight (9.5/10):

While the trolls and fanboys may blur the true critique

for this film, ultimately its a great film. Christopher Nolan directs a chilling film

where the Batman defines a city on the edge of constant chaos. The

photography and scope of the film is on an Oscar level and the score pounds

away at the viewer's pysche. Still, what seperates this film from all others Bat-films

is the birth of one spectacular villian and personally that begins with the

opening shot. When Nolan introduces the Joker all you see is an ordinary man

with gun and a clown mask . Yet the score and camera work transform Heath

Ledger's character into an instant legend. The opening scene is so spectacular

that it makes the movie instantly a fresh successful film and the rest is delicious

gravy,:D The rest of characters all improve in this sequel as Oldman cements the

true Jim Gordan the fans have always wanted; Bale continues making Batman

his role alone with his perfect Wayne as different persona from his Batman and

making him the pseudo- rich playoy jerk he portrays Wayne to be. While his

voice can deter full-on love for his Batman{I can understand the frustation as we

know how he truely sounds- like Kevin Conroy :) } Overall, his physical prescence

overwhelmes any doubt how great his Batman is by instantly making all who

came before him look like guys in bad costumes. Bale makes Batman come to

life in ways that is as frightening as Ledger's Joker. Also, kudos to Maggie G. for

making Dawes a genuine character I could respect and care for in ways Katie

Holmes could never had done. One complaint in character development in the

sequel is Caine's Alfred as it seems he takes a backseat in this film after his

marvelous showing in the previous film. The same goes, for Cillian Murphy's

Johnathan Scarecrow" Crane- Just wished Nolan used the characters a bit

more. Still, as everyone knows Heath Ledger's performance steals the show. It

says a lot when I say his performance blew away Jack's ledgendary performance

in the 89 movie & a scary voice that best Mark Hamil's trademark clown vocal

tone. This Joker indeed seems to live up to the legend of the comic version with

an interpretation that scares you at time and leaves you in constant awe. He

mixes perfect essence of hilarity, anger, and insanity into the perfect JOKER. If

Ledger's doesn't get a best supporting nod at either the Oscars or Globes- well

my faith when it comes to Hollywood's standards and practices will be at an all

time low. Still, let us hope we don't forget the other near-Oscar caliber

performance in this film and thats done by Echardt's Harvey Dent. He makes

Dent the tragic and heroic White Knight he always was in the comics. His demise

is truely a painful end as we watch in horror as Harver's id personality, Two-face,

comes to life and proceeds to destroy all the good he had accomplished. Extra

Kudos and Bravo to these two fine performances that help make this film so

great. In the end, it is the amazing plot, {actually seeig a hero evolve while

also technically losing to the bad guy is amazing} far improved action scenes,

great chemestry between the cast and finally handling the source material

so well that Nolan could transcen the typical superhero boundaries and break

free into a sensational crime drama. Essentially, no one has done more for the

character since Loeb/ Sale's legendary "Hush" storyline and Nolan deserves

all the praise he gets making the best comic book movie adaptation ever.

    What an Accomplishment!

Wow, seriously this film is freakin so great it had me on the edge of my

seat. Damn, oh why could they not make it 15-30 minutes longer? It would

have been perfect but hey I won't complain after recieving this treasured

movie showcasing how spectacular the JLA has always been. It makes you

believe again in hope, wisedom and courage...and the fact a live action JLA

    movie must be made someday.

The best aspects of the feature flick are the

transcending characters performances of secondary characters- Green

Lantern, Flash and Martian Manhunter. It was tragic that for political

correctiness that Hal Jordan was scrapped for John Stewart. Not saying he

was a failed green lantern, but as the movie proved, with the fans having

known all along, Hal Jordan is the greatest Lantern for a reason. Cook's

story jumps off the pages to showcase the cool HaL Jordan, ace

pilot/survivalist/ladies man, and ya can't help but admire the dude. Its

a shame we only see him in the suit for the ending, but like Two-Face in

the The Dark Knight, you don't mind not seeing the final transformation

for too long because you already got to know who the man behind the

mask is. I can't wait for the freakin live action movie. Also, another

character sorely needed for an improvement was the Flash. Hey, I enjoyed

Rosenbaum's Flash on JLU a whole lot but in the end am I the only who

thinks Barry Allen/ Wally West is more than just some stero typical fast

man in every sense. He always seems so immature, goofy, comic relief

and annoying... I 'm sorry to inform those who grew up on the fantastic

JLU shows but that is not how the Flash acts. if you want that check out

Plastic man, Elongated Man, hell even Hal Jordan & Ollie Queen aka The

green Arrow are more goofy than any Flash. Sure he is not some serious

dude or aggressive guy either but he definitely not some goofy fun every

second idiot. Hell, he's supposed to be a smart, Superman -esqe good,

and compassion hero. Maybe that makes him sorta genric but I like the

comic book version a bit more as you can tell. Anywho, this film comes

far closer to capturing the Flash's essence. It was nice to see the Flash not

only goofy but smart and loving too. Also, loved seeing the ring device

    holding the Flash suit..brough a tear to my eye {yes, My life is that sad:o }

Finally, the Martian Manhunter was slightly but significently improved

in the sense you get to understand him alot more than we did in JLU. It

happened so quickly in the first movie and after the initial story arc was

done, he never seemed that important again. But here you get the sorrow

he is going through, the anger he witnesses from human society and

the unique personality that makes everyone love him so. He is far more

complex and fresh a character this time around and I wish we had future

    installments just for him.

Still, that in the essence is what makes this film so great... it takes the

time to showcase the importance of these secondary characters in ways

JLU never had, or wanted, the time to explaining to anyone. Here, you

instantly felt connected to these guys in ways you never did in JLU. Heu, I

know they were more focus in the story and plots in JLU, and I give them

credit for crafting perhaps the best comic book cartoon ever, but why

couldn't they focus in on who these characters like they did here in a short

75 minute frame. They had a 90 minute pilot that showcased a great team

and thats fine, but they had to realize these secondary characters

desperately need the Batman:TAS treatment. Now, I know they won't,

unfortunately ever get that but why not at least what they did here in this

time restricting movie?I mean they did a great job in developin Shiera and

Stewart's & Bruce and Diana's growing relationships but they never could

develop the individual characters? I mean in the end it somehow felt they

developed the Question and Ollie Queen better than cast regulars, the

Flash, John Jonez or even Superman at times.Thats why at times certain

characters felt forgotten or wasted for many fans. Maybe what this film just

says is this, give Timm someone like Cook, or any comic vet, to keep him

honest and he could make our deepest dreams come alive when it involves

the DC universe. So, here's hoping for DC to realize the new frontier is a

metaphor for their future animated and live action universes --> you have

just scratched the surface and the future is paved in gold from the richest

comic source material in the world. Now go build it, Mr. Nolan and Timm

have done enough already by themselves :D

    The End

P.S. the Kennedy speech in the end was one of the most moving

conclusions to any film I have ever seen. Damn, JFK and the JLA- what

could be better than that team-up?

    Striptease: rotten 5/10

starring: Demi Moore; Burt Reynolds, Ving Rames

oh what could have been, if only ms. moore didn't take herself too

serial!! It was supposed to be comedy and its shame that such memorable

performances by Rames and reynolds are wasted in the terrible story and the

overated actress. I guess Demi thought she was reading a heavy, Oscar

script because she on a whole nother level throughout the movie. I mean

when tyour married to Cletus slck jock yokel...by Choice!!!... you are not

going to get any sympthany from me. Seriously, honey your no victim,

your an idiot for marrying such a farcical character and i bet that is

what the script called for but ms. moore decided to play it all serious, as

usual. Along Now, of course she does something to almost redeem herself

and what was it again oh yeah..... strip.. ur i mean exotic tease. Jeez

don't mess with Rames's girl;) Still her strips from the opening to the

bathroom to the private yacht are all top grade sexy and boy she looks fine.

Her legs are quite spectacular, her ass is juicy and her tits, while not a

perfect Pam Andrson job, still hold up pretty damed well. She goes topless

for three scenes and her jugs never leave me unsatisfied. Still, it is Rames

and Reynold hilarious performances that steal the show.

no need for violence, most beauty comes in a much gentler presentation

    Posted on 12/15/07 08:20 AM | Last edited on 12/15/07 08:17 AM

superman returns was fine and please it doesn't deserve the hate. hey isn't

the original superman movie one of the greatest superhero movies ever? was

there any intense fighting scenes? no, oh and it wasn't a memorable was it?

oh, wait it was... in other words comic book adaptations don't need fighting

scenes as much as they need a moment of wonder and awe! some of the

best scenes in superhero movies have no fighting at all such as spidey kissing

mj upside down in the original, batman standing over the city on that pole

looking over his city in batman begins, wolverine touching rogue in order to

save her life by sacrificing his in the original x-men, superman flying with lois

in the original supes movie,or autn may's speech in spiderman two... i know i

could go on and i understand there are PLENTY moments that are super

awesome involving fighting but the point is non fighting scenes have the

same chance if not more of a chance to leave you in awe and wonder. i

personally think the greatest scene in superhero movie is when superman

loses his temper in the original and spins the world around and literally

resurrects his love! and that scene, does not involve one punch or kick. i

hope that satisfies my point, goodnight and good luck....
