In the long history of Bat flicks, the placement of each film is a much debated
argument. I think to be fair when doing a list like this, you have to try to understand and respect each bat-series. So, here i go ranking the Bat-films and an explaination to each film: 1) The Dark Knight (9.5/10): ![]() ![]() While the trolls and fanboys may blur the true critique for this film, ultimately its a great film. Christopher Nolan directs a chilling film where the Batman defines a city on the edge of constant chaos. The photography and scope of the film is on an Oscar level and the score pounds away at the viewer's pysche. Still, what seperates this film from all others Bat-films is the birth of one spectacular villian and personally that begins with the opening shot. When Nolan introduces the Joker all you see is an ordinary man with gun and a clown mask . Yet the score and camera work transform Heath Ledger's character into an instant legend. The opening scene is so spectacular that it makes the movie instantly a fresh successful film and the rest is delicious gravy, The rest of characters all improve in this sequel as Oldman cements thetrue Jim Gordan the fans have always wanted; Bale continues making Batman his role alone with his perfect Wayne as different persona from his Batman and making him the pseudo- rich playoy jerk he portrays Wayne to be. While his voice can deter full-on love for his Batman{I can understand the frustation as we know how he truely sounds- like Kevin Conroy } Overall, his physical prescence overwhelmes any doubt how great his Batman is by instantly making all who came before him look like guys in bad costumes. Bale makes Batman come to life in ways that is as frightening as Ledger's Joker. Also, kudos to Maggie G. for making Dawes a genuine character I could respect and care for in ways Katie Holmes could never had done. One complaint in character development in the sequel is Caine's Alfred as it seems he takes a backseat in this film after his marvelous showing in the previous film. The same goes, for Cillian Murphy's Johnathan Scarecrow" Crane- Just wished Nolan used the characters a bit more. Still, as everyone knows Heath Ledger's performance steals the show. It says a lot when I say his performance blew away Jack's ledgendary performance in the 89 movie & a scary voice that best Mark Hamil's trademark clown vocal tone. This Joker indeed seems to live up to the legend of the comic version with an interpretation that scares you at time and leaves you in constant awe. He mixes perfect essence of hilarity, anger, and insanity into the perfect JOKER. If Ledger's doesn't get a best supporting nod at either the Oscars or Globes- well my faith when it comes to Hollywood's standards and practices will be at an all time low. Still, let us hope we don't forget the other near-Oscar caliber performance in this film and thats done by Echardt's Harvey Dent. He makes Dent the tragic and heroic White Knight he always was in the comics. His demise is truely a painful end as we watch in horror as Harver's id personality, Two-face, comes to life and proceeds to destroy all the good he had accomplished. Extra Kudos and Bravo to these two fine performances that help make this film so great. In the end, it is the amazing plot, {actually seeig a hero evolve while also technically losing to the bad guy is amazing} far improved action scenes, great chemestry between the cast and finally handling the source material so well that Nolan could transcen the typical superhero boundaries and break free into a sensational crime drama. Essentially, no one has done more for the character since Loeb/ Sale's legendary "Hush" storyline and Nolan deserves all the praise he gets making the best comic book movie adaptation ever. ![]() ![]() |
