Cool World (1992) directed by: Ralph Bakshi..... cast:

Kim Basinger: Holli Would 2) Brad Pitt: Frank Harris 3)Gabriel Byrne: Jack Deebs

My RATING... 4 out of 10 (ROTTEN)

Well with a title like this one, you would expect something

umm... cool, right? Wrong, this movie is just plain horrible in almost

every way you look at it. Heck, if it weren't for Ms. Basinger's character

there would be no reason this movie should be rembered. Now some

will find that reasoning unacceptable because many consider the 2-d

animation anywhere from memorable to borderline great. Still, i

believe the animation has some highlights unfortunately they are

drowned out by many more annoying moments. The coup de grace

of this complinant comes when Holi goes to the real world and has

these temporal shifts between the real Kim and Holi as a clown. Yes,

you read that write, a clown, for some reason this marlyn monroe

vixen lookalike all of a sudden become an animated clown in the

real world. Well, maybe it symbolizes how Kim felt about being in this

movie. God knows what Brad Pitt reflects on his legendary

performance in this movie. and in legendary, i mean legendary awful!

One of the worst performance i have ever seen and makes you wonder

how fortunate he was to still have a viable career.

Now, when it comes to its only positive its the plot of fantasy that is:

What if we could create our dream girl? It is a fantasy many the poor and

desperate have made at some time in their life. It so salivating that even

if it was the bitchy Holli Wood- I would give my best omer Simpson

droll. This is adoration and fascination is mainly because she is drawn

to perfection and not for Basinger's voice acting. Honestly, her most

alluring and tempting moments don't come from a develop sensual

character but just from an physical appearence that drowns the viewer

with cheap, but effective, sex appeal. Now, your wondering- well

CouchTomatoe, didn't Jessica Rabbit or Tex Avery's Red Riding Hood

accomplish their success in seduction by the same method? Well, of

course they used their physical beauty to seduce but their was far more

than that... it was their erotic attraction that made their prey hopelesss

and smitten. With Holi, she is such an annoying bitch- kinda like that a

creepy stripper that won't take a no for an answer for a lapdance. See a

Lil' Dectives episode from South Park for reference :D

Nevertheless, it seems this film came too early as it never could figure

what audience it was pushing for- teens or adults. In the end, only drunk

or drug or desperate folks will find it appealing at all. There really is

nothing else worth seeing. Sorry, I didn't care for Brad pitt's character's

pain or the fate of cool world{good riddance if u ask me}. I bet the main

reason most of you want to check this film out to see the second coming

of jessica rabbit, in the blonde & more adult variety. Yet Holi makes us

giddy that we still have her because Holi can only give us terrible

nightmares and perhaps Hep C as well:D

Now you don't have to make it a porno to make it a success, but if you

ever see the scene where Holli finally gets it... wow it is a scene that

perfectly symbolizes this rotten picture : pure frustration;)For a

moment, you actually believe your gonna get a respectable making love

scene and hey its animated which means you can get away with lot

more sex and violence than anormal pg-13 release. Unfortunately, as she

does the sinsational deed with Jack Deebs, the scene constantlycuts out

to show her pathetic cartoon minions trying to watch. I'm wondering

once again who the hell is this film geared to? After watching this scene,

you get the feeling the writers and director were visualing every way to

screw up the one redeeming scene in the entire movie so that any

minors wouldn't be affected by the evil act of sex:o U know its far worse

to a child's well being than seeing Brad Pitt act in this film or the creepy

animation that would scare a drug addict:mad: Sometimes I think they did

it to screw the audience who just came to watch that one scene. Yaeh,

we'll let our creative venture represent our work to the film

community. Once again its not like they had to film a porn scene {I

know it seems like I'm begging for one} but its called filmaking and the

director has to find a way to film a love scene that doesn't riducule the

audience whole validity of watching the flick!! What a legendary, weird,

erotic and memorable moment to have people and even critic

remember this film but no they choose to stage it from the perspetive of

a eight year child on a sugar rush. I the end, all u have is bad dark

comedy that is never funny nor dark enough. Now, i can give the exact

expression u will have on your face after watching this garbage... its the

scene when holli enters our reality and kim basinger face is priceless. it

shows dissapointment, depression and relief. thank god that movie is

forgotten in the dollar bin at Wall-Mart. My suggestion/hope remake it

as a porno- seriously you owe many fans some pleasure after that

    torture you put them through!

P.S. Hope you guys enjoy these illustrations of Holli

This movie is a definite and underated successful film that sizzles in the

background of the gorgeous Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the equally beautiful

Michelle Johnson. Still, the film also has plenty of humor from the male leads,

Michael Caine & Joseph Bologna, and their constant banter is a worthy dessert

to the film's sexy main course. Now, yes the romance in the story is immoral in

nearly anyway you look at it but if you give it chance I gurantee you will be

swept away the seductive aura of Rio, not to mention Michelle's:D Trust me,

you'll be blaming this movie for giving you a sensual and funny memories

you'll never want to forget!:) My rating an 8 out of 10 fresh tomatoes for
