Latest 3D computer-animated film was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and Sym-Bionic Titan. I am not a great fan of any of them, but I just decided to see what (voices of) Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade and Cee Lo Green did. Not much!
Different story of Dracula, who is the owner of Hotel Transylvania, where the world's monsters can take a rest from human civilization. When his daughter's 118th birthday is to be celebrated, he invites some of the most famous monsters: Frankenstein, Mummy, a Werewolf family, and the Invisible Man, and many others. During the celebration, the monster hotel is unexpectedly visited by an ordinary 21-year-old human named Jonathan - Dracula must protect his daughter Mavis from falling in love with him before it is too late.
This film has been in development since 2006, when Anthony Stacchi and David Feiss were set to direct the film, but in 2008 that position was taken over by Jill Culton. Thst wasn't the final choice: around 2010 the names of Chris Jenkins and Todd Wilderman appeared, and finally in February 2011, Genndy Tartakovsky took over as the sixth director to direct his feature directorial debut. And I'll say, kids will love it - it is full of quirky gags and lovable characters which kids can identify with. On the other hand, even it is a fun film, the story is very predictable, and thin script with addition of loud music won't be too appealing for the older generation. If you are young in heart, maybe you'll love it.

"kids will love it" - yep, that was my impression based on the trailers - at least they seem to know their target audience. I may be young at heart, but would certainly appreciate a bit of depth to my cartoons! ;)

I had given this movie 50% but I am glad you juiced this up. Still I see your disapproval for the movie, I like that. Thumbs up!

I think 50% sounds good for me as well... :-) It was around that number. Thanks for the comment.

I am young at heart, though I'm not as big a fan of Sandler and co. as I used to be. I probably skip this one, even though I'm a fan of Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack. Thanks for this review!

I liked this one too. It entertained my inner child, but as an adult it was a good time.
