This was an awesome movie, it is certainly not the best for either DiCaprio or Scorsese, as it has its flaws, but compared to cinema outside of these two people, Shutter Island stacks up very well. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie and how well it held my attention. I did not quite know what to expect when going into see the movie, but I was looking forward to it. I think what makes the movie is its consistency, both in mood and appearance. It was always dark, never inviting, it painted an entire picture, and there was always a sense of suspense with the ominous music that accompanied each scene. There was no out of place humor or pointless scenes...just about every word spoken seems to have contributed to the main turn of the movie, which is one reason I wouldn't mind watching it again just to see the build-up again, and catch things I may have missed. That said, at times it was a little hard to follow. Scenes that later in the movie make more sense, are confusing when first viewed. But other than perhaps the confusing scene or two, which do become clear by the end of the movie, this is a solid film that I now rank among my favorites (as far as first time viewing, with the main twist revealed it may not hold up for a third or fourth view). I recommend this movie to anyone who needs something to do on a Friday night or someone looking for a good suspenseful, and intriguing 2 hours. 8/10

Ten hours of Saving Private Ryan quality, yes please. I have seen this the whole way through 3 times now and every time it is amazing. While I do have parts I like better than the other, I think it is amazing how all of the parts are very consistent and entertaining. Band of Brothers gives a look into the hardships of American soldiers and how WWII changed them forever.
