For starters the comedy is a good enough reason to see the movie, but it's the twisted psychological questions that make this film remarkable. Christian Bale puts himself on the map with what is still his best performance as Patrick Batman. It is honestly an insult he wasn't a Best Actor Nominee for the Oscars. His performance is identical in quality with Jack Nicholson in the Shinning. The film was also to the same level as the Shinning in overall quality. Of course this is less of a horror flick and more so a disturbing Black Comedy. When watching this I feel that there could be a American Psycho beside me every moment of the day. The film examines pure evil like There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men and The Dark Knight. It also examines the difference between reality and fantasy, showing how small the gap really is. And my favorite of all is that the inside of a person doesn't matter. Their is so much truth in that statement. No matter what you feel inside it will never matter to the real world unless you express it to the world and even then it mite not be realized. This film is without a doubt one of the most underrated films of All-time. At least Christian Bale got his respect in this film.
