"You know how to whistle, don't you? You just put your lips together and blow." Rarely has a single line become more legendary than the film itself, but To Have and Have Not is well known mostly for that quote and Bogart and Bacall's love affair and marriage that followed this steamy lust-fest. Despite it not having a large cinematic legacy I greatly enjoyed this loose adaptation of the famed Hemingway novel. Bogart and Bacall have, obviously, great screen chemistry and Walter Brennan is a magnificent comedic support (as he always is). It's a bit light on plot but great on performances and if you love watching these older films where the dialog provides the seduction and the lust than the physical acts you should defiantly check out this almost classic. Oh, there's some really cool big-game deep-sea fishing scenes as well. Strong recommendation for a mostly undervalued film.
