So, you may have noticed the ratings that have appeared at the bottom of my reviews. So, I thought I would explain it.
Lead acting (generally 20 points)
This is for the main 3 or 4 actors in the movie. The number of actors included varies from movie to movie. (Less for District 9, more for LOTR)
Supporting acting (generally 15 points)
This is the acting by everyone else in the movie.
Direction (generally 20 points)
This is fairly obvious, I hope.
Screenplay (generally 25-30 points)
This is for the script, mainly composed of the character development, plot events and actual character's lines.
Look (generally 10-15 points)
This is for the cinematography of the film, the special effects, the costumes, and the production design.
Editing (generally 5-10 points)
This is for how well the movie flows, whether it is the order of events or the cutting of scenes. A scene doesn't have to be cohesive for it to be well-edited. Case in point: the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. That won the Oscar right there.
Music (generally 3-5 points)
I find film soundtracks (and especially scores) to be very important. THis is a category to reflect that.
Nuances (whatever's left)
THis is for anything else I want to take into account into my rating.
