Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is simply put 2 and half hours of pure action sc-fi nonstop action. There are only a few minor things I found I did not like about this film. Some dialogue choices , a scene that went just a little to long and some michael bay action movie clichés . Ultimately though forgivable when looked at the whole of the movie.
If you came in expecting a radical character study of robots and machines I suggest you go see Terminator 2: Judgment day instead. If you are looking for pure action stereotypical popcorn this is a summer movie type movie you found it in this. The action is leaps and bounds better and more abundant then in Transformers. Another improvement I enjoyed was Bay?s Camera work. Instead of the normal tons of quick shots that in the end cost a 1000 dollars to make and ultimately have no impact feeling and the viewer is left wondering how all of a sudden this guy died. Instead we have this very circular fluid sort of feel to the cinematography that lets the viewer see the awesome robot on robot action.
The action was not perfect though I found myself going wait what two times in im guessing the first hour or so. The attack on the college made me go what in that all of a sudden we go from the college to a forest . Now we do get the first real taste of what it would look like when it comes to GIANT ROBOT ON ROBOT VIOLENCE. This also leads to a very actual emotional for me movement to a degree . The final climatic battle that takes place also while epic in scale had a few to many typical mike bay clichés slow motion scenes where we see peoples faces expressing shock and disbelief. This did though remind me of the other Michael Bay movie ?The Rock?.
Now the cast of Autobots and Decpticons in this film grew extensively . Now the only problem is If I didn?t pre-screening this movie read the RT article on Who?s Who I might not of remembered all of there names. This is forgivable though since for the most part none for these characters are given us a major reason to invest in them and are there really to provide fire power and more robot on robot violence. So take that as you will if you want to learn all there name s you can go look it up.
This is not a little kids movie for you parents out there. I only say this because there where at least 10 little kids under 10 there . be forewarned there are multiple instances of them saying ?bitch? which really just got on my nerves. There is also some dark imagery and they show the nitty gritty so if your kids like 11 or 12 they?ll be fine 10 and under not some much. I had slight flash backs of a family bringing there little kids to see Watchmen and I asked ?Why are you bring them to a R rated movie?? there answer was ?oh well its only for super hero violence so its not that big of a deal?. Ok now I could use that to go off on a target but wont. Suffice it to say I had a great chuckle when they saw Doctor Manhattan in all his glory .
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is bigger longer and much more epic in scope compared to the last one . Now dose that mean its better not necessarily there are some plot wholes that made me go huh and some scenes that were just a tad to long . in the end though it held my attention for 2 and a half hours and it didn?t feel like that the only thing I had reminding me that it was that long was that fact that I had to go to the bathroom . This is a Great stereotypical summer FX Blockbuster its no Oscar best picture nominee but for what its selling the viewer it dose in spades
i give it 85% or 8.5 out of 10
