Drag Me To Hell is a fantastic horror film directed by Sam Raimi who is also the director of The Evil Dead Trilogy and the Spider-man trilogy. The acting in Drag Me To Hell is superb. The movie is also actually scary in some parts. The movie made me jump a few times. When I first saw the trailer for DMTH I was so happy. I was glad to see that Raimi was returning to the horror genre. I was a little worried at first though. It had been a while since Raimi had made a horror movie. So I thought maybe he would be a little rusty. But know he reestablishes himself as one of the greatest horror film directors in our time.
DMTH stars Alison Lohman who plays the protagonist Christine Brown a bank teller. Justin Long who plays Christine Browns boyfriend Clay Dalton. It also stars Dileep Rao who plays Rham Jas a fortune teller. And Lets not forget Lorna Raver who plays the gypsy lady Sylvia Ganush who puts the curse on Christine Brown. The best performance in my opinion in this movie goes to Lorna Raver. She portrays the gypsy lady very well. The effects of DMTH are amazing probably the best horror effects in a long time.
The plot of DMTH is very simple. A bank teller name Christine Brown does not give a gypsy lady an extinction on her mortgage payment because she wants to show that she can make the tough decisions so she can get a promotion on her job. The gypsy lady begs Christine until eventually the gypsy lady is drug away by security guards. With the gypsy saying you shamed me! This scene will freeze your heart. Later that night Christine is attacked by the gypsy with the fight ending with the gypsy putting a curse on Christine . Christine is then haunted by the Lamia for three days. The Lamia pretty much destroys Christine's life. She tries to combat the Lamia by sacrificing her cat and trying to kill it by forcing it into the body off a goat. This all leads to a very climatic ending.
One thing I liked a lot about Drag was that it had many evil dead elements to it. In one scene Christine is at work and her nose starts to bleed. Her boss walks over to her and asks her if she needs to go to the bathroom. A huge amount of blood from Christine is shot on her boss. This reminds me off a scene in evil dead II where Ash shots his possessed hand while it is hiding in a wall, after this huge amounts of blood are shot on ash.
DMTH is a great horror film. That is truly amazing one of the best horror films in a very long time. All thanks to Sam Raimi who is one of the best.
