To me, the top 4 are all interchangeable. Any of them could be #1-4 and it wouldn't make a difference to me. Thanks for the comments :)

This is a damn good list. Great job, Jeff. Really love it! I was quite expecting Brando's Vito on top..but who else can top that performance? And I sure as hell loved De Niro as the young Vito.

Thanks! It's hard to beat Brando in The Godfather, especially just counting the '70s. As far as young Vito, that's my favorite De Niro performance.

Again.. I cannot give a full opinion, but I've heard good stuff about a lot of these (Godfather, clockwork, cuckoos nest) etc.

Great remainder to the list, Jeff. You certainly did not disappoint. I love Peter Finch. NETWORK is such a great film. Robert Shaw's speech about the U.S.S. Indianapolis is the high point of that role. Certainly no surprise that Godfather and Godfather II and Pacino and De Niro dominated the list. They were definitely iconic of the 70s.

Don Vito was the only logical choice for #1. I'm pleasantly surprised to see #14 on here.

Spectaculat list. Allthough i'm suprised you didn't ahve pacino in The Godfather Part 2 i mean he was playing more or less the same character that he devoloped into in part 1 (cleary) but i think whilst the first is better his performence on the second was actually slightly better then in the first. My order would be a bit different but overall you have solid picks however a few that were in your first list would hve actually made my top 25

Midnight Cowboy was released in 1969 -- not part of the '70s.
