In a College English class I have we read the first couple chapter's of "If You Want to Write: A Book about Art, Independence and Spirit." by Brenda Ueland. In it she says that no criticism of any sort is actually helpful or useful. She says the main reason people decide not to be imaginative in life is because they are afraid of the criticism they might receive. This got me thinking, why do we write reviews? I absolutely love writing them and enjoy film so much, but do we ever take criticism too far? What is the line between being rude and honest? Is critcism the #1 killer of the imagination? I would love anyone and everyone's opinion on the matter.
