It eludes me how one of the finest directors in cinema could produce such a cliche driven redundant film such as 'a history of violence'. easily the worst film of cronenbergs career (and that includes the low budget horror flicks of his early career) everything about this film misses its mark. There is no suspense or character development and scenes like the one where the son is getting bullied is a prime example of the overused hollywood cop outs that have replaced good writting in films like these. He's getting pushed around by the high school bully and now he has to learn to stand up for himself and bla bla bla, do you even need to see the film to know what's going to happen?
Better yet, who really cares about the ark of these characters and what they have to say?
