This film is a simple one, with a very unclear plot, but wildly funny (that is if you like Brittish humor, wich most Americans don't), featuring great performances by all its stellar leading cast featuring: Hysterical Rowan Atkinson as a distracted Anglican priest, outstanding Kristin Scott Thomas as his wife, legendary and the soul of the film Maggie Smith as a particular and very, very dark version of Mary Poppins and scene-stealer Patrick Swayze as the dim-witted, pervert American lover of Scott Thomas.

The weak point is certainly the script. Sure, it contains several of funny, and most of the time brilliant gags, but the main plot, if original, doesn't get the attention it deserves, except in the prologue and at the ending of the film and thus, failing to be a dark version of Mary Poppins, wich it certainly wanted to be.

The result is a very funny, and sometimes brilliant Brittish comedy, boosted by its top actors.

RIP Patrick Swayze (1952-2009)
