In honour of this weeks Green Lantern release, I think you should know this:
Quentin Tarantino was once offered Green Lantern
Why didn't he do it?
Tarantino said if he would do a superhero movie, it wouldn't be an already existing comic book character
he said "I'm a writer. I'd want to use my imagination and not have to fight with geeks' memories of how this character should be and, 'Oh, I cast an actor as opposed to a bodybuilder' or it's not as good as the way [DC Comics artist] Neal Adams drew him.' If I were to do something like that, I would want the fun of coming up with the superhero myself."
As great as a Green Lantern conjuring up huge hypodermic needles and chainsaws sounds, I think there's a better comic book character Tarantino would be suited for:
If you don't know who this is, his name is Deadpool. He is a horribly disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary who cracks jokes like no tomorrow and can break the fourth wall. He is know as the Merc with a Mouth, because he never shuts up or stops telling jokes.
Does he sound perfect for Tarantino or not?
Funny that I think Tarantino would be perfect for Ryan Reynolds' other comic book role
But what do you think? Do you sadden at the missed opportunity of a Tarantino Green Lantern? Do you agree with Tarantino's response? Do yuo have a better superhero for him to do? Sound off below
