While not great and easily forgettable, G.I. Joe is all you would expect from a summer action flic, nothing more and nothing less.
The premise of this movie is an action packed film dedicated to an animated from long ago, and that is exactly what it is. Even if you are like me, who has never seen the old cartoons from long ago or never will, If you liked T4 or X-Men Wolverine Origins this is pretty much the right movie for you. The actual plot is decent (for the expectations of such a movie) but some of the pointless twists towards the end of the movie are so cliche they leave you wondering why. Again, with the expectations of this movie, the special effects in regards to the animation of, say the planes, are a little disappointing, considering what Hollywood is capable of. The acting is sub-par, and the direction could have been a little better. Costume design was good, except for the white ninja guy. I could have assembled a better costume than the weird rags he was wearing.
While I have mentioned a lot of bad in this film, I think it is outweighed by the pure fun and occasional jab at comedy here and there. You get your money worth of gun-fire, but really thats only in the beginning. The action continues throughout the whole film, and never gets extremely repetitive. The african-american guy (I forget his name) offers comic relief. And the very end of this movie: I've seen it before but still priceless.
In conclusion, for those whose expectations are lowered for this movie and expect pure fun: Go see it. If not, you are just too serious. :)
P.S. just wondering, how do you have an underwater explosion? I mean really, how does that work?
Also, if you liked my review, like give a thumbs up/ favorite/whatever. Its really simple, I would really appreciate it.
