A horrid movie. Too many action sequences and not enough character development. I have just returned home from seeing this mess in theater and after the first 1/2... More

I finally got around to watching this film three years after it came out. The main character (Clifford Heap)'s stuttering problem is annoying and I do not understand what Shymalan's intention to convey was in attributing a speech impediment to the main character in the movie. I only realized AFTER watching the film that Shymalan himself played another of the film's major characters, something I found retroactively absurd, narcissistic, and ridiculous. Unintentional hilarity can be found within this film, i.e. during Heap's excursion into the swimming-pool drain at the apartment complex. The movie drags on and on and on, with horrid, emotionally-charged dialogue but no action to back it up. The movie is almost an endurance marathon as to how long you can sit and watch, waiting for something to happen that never does. None of the characters in the film are likeable. I lost track of the scarfs, narfs, scrunts, grunts, and other mythological creatures of Shymalan's own creation. This film is utterly preposterous and embarassing for the viewer to watch. It was not in the least entertaining except for the unintentionally hilarious moments. A waste of time.
